Beautiful Rigs Of Doom thread

i see something like that, and i always wonder how many are dummy cabs.

That Stained rig is a stupid design. If he wants something crazy he should run something that at least follows some good rules of acoustic design.

Like hey why not an array of Lab Subs/BT7's/Bill F's/Danleys.

With a baby Line array sitting on top of it. Or some other Hornloaded tops.

I bet he could fall through the holes in his frequency response. Comb filtering has to be noticable with that rig.

IMO

A massive FAILURE as a useful Monster rig.

I guess to each his own..... Not everyone can do it like you, big daddy :hmm:
Regardless of who's rig it is, that's a rather bold opinion, based on something you've never even
actually benchmarked, isn't it?

Besides, I could remember him mentioning it was more "reinforcement" sound
as opposed to a full out bass rig like many of Us would use that for.

LMAO!!!Tom Bowlus is gonna come rolling on in with pics of his "rigs of doom" but I'll beat him to it:

Now THAT is his rig of doom!!!!!

Too funny! :p

Actually, I don't really have a Rig of Doom anymore. It's more like an endless audition for gear that wants the title. ;) :bassist:

Tom.

This is why audio engineering stuff should stay in textbooks and not try to manifest itself in real life.

Please don't derail the beauty-rigs further...

Sorry Silly stuff like that at 3 in the morning, makes my head go funny.

You mean all speakers should be designed with the muso's perspective.

Its all just vodoo magig. You can just put a bunch of speakers together and it'll make sound and thats all you need.

The Pro audio designers have had it all wrong for years!!!

I think I can post this here haha

Sorry the picture is a bit blurry.

It is:
2 Ampeg SVT810's
Ampeg SVT4-Pro
SansAmp RBI
x2 Wireless System
Korg DTR-1000 Chromatic Tuner
DBX 266xl Compressor
Furman Power Conditioner

The Basses are:
Music Man Stingray 4 HH - Black Cherry Burst
Music Man Stingray 4 H - Burnt Apple
Music Man Stingray 4 H - Black
all with rosewood fretboards.

Cool, could you tell me your address, and when you are usually out of town? :smug:

The pro-audio designers employed by bass amp companies have had it right for a while. That's why backlines across the world are still not complete vertical arrays or fancy weird boxy cabs with odd combination of horns and all the latest technology. Is there a reason why even some of the most hifi bass players are using regular amps and cabs? I think so.

And this is the beautiful rig post... No offense, but "scientifically-correct" cabs are not a thing of beauty at all. They're odd looking atrocities of aesthetic design that clutter a stage.

Leave the science for the PA systems...

That ampeg rig is AMAZING!!!!

This is at my fattest and beardiest, and possibly sweatiest. It doesn't show my pedals which have become quite out of hand ;) Anyhow it's a 76 ampeg, randall 2x15 w/ eminence deltas (amazing speakers), bbe pre, QSC 2450 power. To hear what it sounds like, check our myspace page and listen to the snippet from "appeal of self destruction"

I disagree. Johnny knows what he's doing. He's got everything crossed over and properly set up a rig of doom as much as you can do with the giant stuff he has.
