Cab BassLite S2010 impossible port length question

Oh! Maybe I misunderstood, guess I need clearance equal to the width of the port, not the length. D'oh! I went to considerable trouble to make this cab deeper... And also to decrease the width, both of which are visible in photo. :)

Cab BassLite S2010 impossible port length question

I didn't make it clear, I'm actually using the published Eminence cab designs, not using software myself. Can be Googled as Basslite_S2010_cab.pdf .

Cab BassLite S2010 impossible port length question

Thx...so, did you put the specified ports into a box that was less than twice as deep internally as those ports? I think I heard that was a No-No. :-) Yeah maybe I should try the rumble 40, or build a 1.2 CF (approximately) box based on it. I just made a box of about 1.53 c f total for a s2012...

Cab BassLite S2010 impossible port length question

Hi guys... I am considering building (or converting existing cab to) a cab for one of my many Eminence BassLite S2010s, using one of the Eminence cab designs. But the specified port length seems impossible to fit in the specified volume, if the port should only be half the length of the...

Ran my Streamliner at 16 ohms tonight -- a revelation

Would this trick also work with my Genzler Magellan MG800? Similar circuitry? :-) I tried asking this question on the Genzler amplification megathread, but, other topics were dominating. @JeffGenzler? The question being, would I get a more tubey result from running at 16 ohms?

Eminence Basslite S2010, what have you done with it?

Thx... that sounds a LOT like one of the eminence cab suggestions: "BassLite S2010, Larger Vented 1x10" Bass Guitar Cab" Would love to know what do you did for ports, with measurements. :-) Note that the 1.7cf V(total) that Eminence uses always seems to include the driver and ports.

Eminence Basslite S2010, what have you done with it?

Wondering how folks have used the Eminence Basslite s2010 Neo driver? Cool cab builds? As replacements in... Which cabs? On the lookout for ways to use this speaker. Honestly, don't love the sound by itself, but they've really come through for me in a rock band lately, and that's what counts...

    Internal shelf/slot port wall thickness?

Hi folks, hopefully quick cab construction question... How thick does the shelf of a slot port have to be? On the cabs I have with a shelf port, the shelf itself is made of the same thickness wood as the rest of the cabinet. But for round ports, relatively thin plastic is used. It would be...

    Genzler Amplification Club

Anybody running the Magellan at 16 ohms? Hi @JeffGenzler, or others who have good info on this: Some folks have reported good results using their Streamliner heads into a 16 ohm load to get a good tubey tone at lower volumes. Should we expect the MG800 to perform similarly? And/or, could we...

Adding inexpensive tweeter to 1x10 cab?

Just a little more love for the eminence basslite S2010. :-) No real questions here, just gabb and a bit about what's worked for me. Threw it into a Eden ex112 cab (absolutely hate the 12in whizzer Eden speaker) and it delivered the goods at a living room party gig. Flogged it like a government...

    Round port(s) size recommendation?

Yep, I'm on the look out for SWR Goliath III Jr. Almost had GC send me one for $320 a couple weeks ago. Those cabs don't seem to last long at GC... Purchased 7 factory cabs in last year... So far, like the lightweight one I just made better. Too early to say, though. At any rate, thinking 2x10...

    Round port(s) size recommendation?

So I used the cab last night, and it actually sounded pretty good I thought, except that it had a same problem as previously when configured with a 1x15 eminence cb158, namely, kind of boomy and unfocused around the low G. Low G being almost exactly the specified resonance a.k.a. Fb for this cab...

    Round port(s) size recommendation?

Here it is as it currently stands... Still waiting for the 16ohm ca10s to arrive, so there is a ca10 and a s2010 in there now. Sounds pretty good... Will test tonight at impending house party. Hoping that keeping an eye on the speaker cones will alert me to any overpowering.... Wattage wise...

    Round port(s) size recommendation?

Hmmm, guess I could knock out the cover over the legacy ports (visible as matte black squares in pic below), then I would have 2 square shelf ports with height of 2.5 in and width of 4.5 in... and I could make them fully rectangular, giving a length of about 5.25 in... Pictured below, with the...

    Round port(s) size recommendation?

Hi Francis, thanks for repairing my Fdeck Stage 2 recently. :-) Yeah, the eminence power handling recommendation seems very low, but probably conservative. I've been hammering a single ca10 with more power than that... But, in a .9 CF vented box. I've mostly used 1 x 15 (EVM15L 200W; JBL K135...

    Round port(s) size recommendation?

Hi, wondering if someone who understands modeling software might be able to recommend what diameter and length of round ports to use with this 2.1cf (internal volume w/o drivers) cab with two Eminence CA10-16 speakers? Don't know if this is a reasonable question, but tried using winisd and...

Converting from one round port to several round ports

Internal volume is close, something like 94% of what they specify. On their website, they say that being within 10% won't make much of a difference.... Certainly wouldn't mind compensating the port dimensions if that was practical.... ;)

Converting from one round port to several round ports

Hi folks, hopefully quick question regarding converting from one large round port to several smaller ones: I have an old small cab, an ex SWR combo, which has one dumb little 2 in zero length round port. I would like to conform it to a published eminence cab spec (see below). MY QUESTION: The...

Which of these lining materials to use?

Yeah I didn't know that cabinet volume affected safe power handling ... So that's what did it, probably? Parameters like shape and venting are hard to get a handle on, but, volume should be easy enough. :-) Thx!

Which of these lining materials to use?

Hi guys, still thinking about this project... Managed to destroy a CA10 (and also damage my amp... but that's another more expensive story). . MY QUESTION: Does it make sense that I destroyed that speaker just by pushing it a bit in a 2.1cf vented cab? Does this also explain why it was flopping...

Which of these lining materials to use?

Looks interesting! Having trouble accessing me individual files for the individual cabs, they seem to be ".bb6" files? the 2x10 and 1x10... thanks! CA10's I have sound good, with some bass EQ boost and bit of hpf. Currently have one in a old SWR LA10 carcass, and another in a Eden EX112...

Which of these lining materials to use?

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the input. I was reading some of the cab modeling threads yesterday. Good Lord. Whole lot of terms I don't understand. Does it make any sense to block off existing shelf-type port, model the now-rectangular internal volume, then put a round port on front...

Which of these lining materials to use?

Hey... I resemble that remark. :-) So...how would I go about fixing this thing up? Sealing off the existing ports, and putting in some conventional round tube type ports perhaps. Sorry, I am new to this, but pretty good with wood and with software. Would love a quick suggestion as to what...

Which of these lining materials to use?

Hmmm... seems a bit like the cone in the homemade cab is moving a lot more than the cone on my other ca10, which is in a different cab... when using them both simultaneously. Possible that my improvised situation is not supporting the speaker in some way? Still would like to know which material...

Which of these lining materials to use?

This pic shows the cheesy port a bit better. I am definitely open to other suggestions involving more radical surgery and perhaps plugging the existing ports and creating new ones in the baffle. Some would suggest just buying a cab. Having purchased seven in the last year, I'm a little wary of...

Which of these lining materials to use?

I'm trying to find something around the house today to use to line the inside of a cab. This futon thing (pictured) may be the victim. Would folks recommend using the inner foam, or the quilted outer layer, perhaps doubled up? The cab in question is a cheesy old PA cab from JCPenney's, from 35...

Adding inexpensive tweeter to 1x10 cab?

I just thought I'd update or correct some things I said in this zombie thread. :-) The single eminence basslite s2010 has actually been working quite well for me. Mistake to install EMG Geezer Butler on 78 P?

Just a little progress report here and a correction! TURNS OUT MY 78 PBASS PICKUPS WERE WAY LOW. Fixing that, has made a big difference , I think. P bass now sounds better than bass with EMG selects. I think. :-) I have both basses basically identically configured now, will A/B them tonight at...

Mistake to install EMG Geezer Butler on 78 P?

Well thanks, let's hope so... I just ordered a set. So far, and it's really way too early to say, the Selects I have another bass are stomping the stock pickups in my 78 p. Or maybe all these fancy cabs and class D amps just aren't doing it for me. Will find out... Eventually. :-(

Mistake to install EMG Geezer Butler on 78 P?

Anybody know if the GZR Geezer Butler EMG p-bass pickup uses audio taper or linear taper on the volume pot? Or, and this one's harder, how it directly compare with the EMG Select pickups of yesteryear? Recently got a cheap bass with those, and pretty impressed. Much beefier sound than my stock...

Mistake to install EMG Geezer Butler on 78 P?

Thanks guys... I will definitely try to leave the stock ground wire intact if I do it. That description of the stock pickup rings true. The pickup on my Johnson P bass, an EMG copy or something, seems to have more meat down low. If I switch to the GZR, wonder if that would give me ultra lows...

Mistake to install EMG Geezer Butler on 78 P?

Thanks guys... kind of in a holding pattern now, the used half wound strings I just put on have transformed the sound, or so it appears all alone in my studio anyway. Looking forward to Gig Friday night find out for real! If anyone has any sense of how good the stock pickups are on a 78 P...

Mistake to install EMG Geezer Butler on 78 P?

... just to reply to my own thread :)... Starting to wonder if I really just need to switch to flatwound (EDIT: halfwound, actually) strings. Been reading up on that here. But, swapped some off the Johnson P bass I mentioned on to my 78 PB, and, holy crap they sound great tonight. Don't know if...
