Thx... that sounds a LOT like one of the eminence cab suggestions: "BassLite S2010, Larger Vented 1x10" Bass Guitar Cab" Would love to know what do you did for ports, with measurements. :-) Note that the 1.7cf V(total) that Eminence uses always seems to include the driver and ports.

So I used the cab last night, and it actually sounded pretty good I thought, except that it had a same problem as previously when configured with a 1x15 eminence cb158, namely, kind of boomy and unfocused around the low G. Low G being almost exactly the specified resonance a.k.a. Fb for this cab...

Internal volume is close, something like 94% of what they specify. On their website, they say that being within 10% won't make much of a difference.... Certainly wouldn't mind compensating the port dimensions if that was practical.... ;)

Hmmm... seems a bit like the cone in the homemade cab is moving a lot more than the cone on my other ca10, which is in a different cab... when using them both simultaneously. Possible that my improvised situation is not supporting the speaker in some way? Still would like to know which material...

Well thanks, let's hope so... I just ordered a set. So far, and it's really way too early to say, the Selects I have another bass are stomping the stock pickups in my 78 p. Or maybe all these fancy cabs and class D amps just aren't doing it for me. Will find out... Eventually. :-(

Anybody know if the GZR Geezer Butler EMG p-bass pickup uses audio taper or linear taper on the volume pot? Or, and this one's harder, how it directly compare with the EMG Select pickups of yesteryear? Recently got a cheap bass with those, and pretty impressed. Much beefier sound than my stock...

Thanks guys... I will definitely try to leave the stock ground wire intact if I do it. That description of the stock pickup rings true. The pickup on my Johnson P bass, an EMG copy or something, seems to have more meat down low. If I switch to the GZR, wonder if that would give me ultra lows...
