Fender Modern player Jazz bass - Split the coils?

Yea, you are right. I managed to get the cover off (that was epoxied) and all of the internal wires are embedded into the epoxy, so there is no reasonable way to get to them. I would probably end up destroying them in the process. I did not reslize that Delano or Haeussel made double J...

Fender Modern player Jazz bass - Split the coils?

Hi All, I just got a 2011 white Fender Modern player with the Humbuckers. It is very well made (much better than a MIM), I do like the sound of the humbuckers, but I would like the option of splitting the coils with a push pull pot to get the traditional Jazz sound when I want it. I looked...

Help - Warmoth 72 P/J nitro build finish issue

BTW: Follow-up question. Since my touch ups were only 2 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. Do I need to wait 2 weeks for "cure" - I would imagine it would cure faster becase it is so thin ?

Help - Warmoth 72 P/J nitro build finish issue

Thank you SlingBlader! I am thinking based on close observation, that haze goes all the way through. Sooo, here is what I decided to do. Since the areas are so localized to the outside horns only. I am just going to put 2 coats of color, and get hopefully get 2 coats of clear on it...

Help - Warmoth 72 P/J nitro build finish issue

Hi SlingBlader, Thank you! Here was the process (probably more than you wanted): I used Oxford Fiesta Red and clear nitro, Stew mac Filler, Sanding sealer, and white Vinyl sealer (which I probably did not need) In a heated ventilated garage - around 69-71 degrees : Day 1 Sand and grain...

Help - Warmoth 72 P/J nitro build finish issue

Help - I am getting a nitro post polish discoloration? So, I just finished! After a million coats of Filler, sealer, white primer, color, clear and curing time, my first Nitro job is done. Yesterday was wet sanding and polishing day. I also completed the bass final build. This is what I...

    Warmoth 72 P build..Anyone??

I am building a Warmoth 72 PJ now. I am doing the nitro myself (first time), looking good but I will not really know until i do the final wet sand and polish next week (in that last cure waiting 2+ weeks). I have literally 14 coats of clear on this thing so I hope it will be OK. I did make...

    Nikolai Fraiture Bass tone?

I started playing-bass again a few years ago because of the strokes! I love Nicholis ‘s style and tone, but I also think it changes quite a bit from album to album. I love the tone of Trying your Luck, I have tried to recreate it through several basses, always had an ampeg amp, but could not...

Summer Warmoth project completed - '72 style P/J

This is super nice, man - incredible job. I found this thread becase I was doing research on what looks to be my next project - a Warmoth 72! lol. I know you said you did a Vol/Vol/Tone setup, but the bottom knob look like a toggle? I want it to be light - so I was thinking of doing a...

    NBD!

Hey that is beautiful, I think when you see mine you will understand why I have that opinion. Highly augmented Duff Mckagan: so Jazz neck, but new Olympic white body (from Stratosphere), Active Preamp/EQ with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pouder pups, Kick ass high mass bridge, and Rotosound strings...

Fender american standard Jazz vs active ultra or elite

Which is better really, does the active preamp/eq make a difference? Its tough to shop now that most stores are closed or their inventory is unbelievably low where I live.

    SOLD 1989 Fender Longhorn Jazz

Quick question. I am looking at one of these on Criags list. They are asking $800 which seems really low to me considering a 1989-90 Vintage American made Jazz bass. What does Longhorn/Boner mean?

Do jazz-style neck & bridge pickups differ in any way other than size?

This Thread is great, So I have a Squire 2017 Jazz 70s modified that I put new DeMarzio pickups in. I just noticed that I installed in reverse (I didn't know there was a difference when installing), I do remember that the pick guard Pickup hole was really tight, so I have to slightly grind...

    Dull Pao Ferro Fretboard

I have a 2017 Fender P bass MIM with Pau Ferro Fret board. I actually like the color and the grain, but it is just very dull finish - no depth to the grain. I tried Fret Doctor and Lemon oil, but they didn't change it much if at all. I know time will probably darken and it will eventually...

Build a Bass with spare parts and chinese stuff ?

LOL - Right! Asked myself that too. But, it's the journey. The components were OK, I am just an idiot who likes to goof around. To your point, I will probably give to someone who would appriciate. If it does actually play well, my son might just keep it. He is a guitar player, but will...

Build a Bass with spare parts and chinese stuff ?

Here are pics of the Squire I upgraded. Main thing are - I put new Pickups and POT set (DiMarzio FB2200CA3 Ultra Jazz Pre-wired Pickup Set for Jazz Bass). They were great prewired with a new plate, so no soldering. I also put Fender High Mass Bridge and Fender Neck plate. See Pics - I...

Build a Bass with spare parts and chinese stuff ?

I actually think the body that I ordered came from there. I just looked closer and it was from the "EdenStore" same logo as the AllenEden website. They look solid, the neck I ordered is a concern now after everyone posted their experience, but a little extra work and learning makes the final...

Build a Bass with spare parts and chinese stuff ?

Great - thank you for your advice - very helpful. For the leftover parts, they are the Squire Pickups & Pots (I got DiMarzio Set for it the "Super Squire") and Standard String Keys and a High-Mass Bridge I ended-up with - so not so bad. We sill see how it sounds.

Build a Bass with spare parts and chinese stuff ?

Hi all you awesome bassers, So, been back into playing again after years away (son got interested), I have a 70s Squire Jazz Bass and a MIM P bass, and I have a bad habit if constantly upgrading stuff (cause I like to). I have a bunch of "lower grade" parts leftover and I was thinking of...
