    I made some music!

I'm so exited to share it with you! Link Removed tell me what you think, i tried pretty hard to diversify my music over the past three years, I hope it shows! p.s. all songs were recorded in my bedroom, they are still work-in-progresses!

Will the Studio Save my Band?

I am playing bass in a power trio of sorts, we are called "Prof. Oak." The drummer and I both played our respective "first show" roughly 2 years ago, and since then, have been developing a gnarly groove with a decidedly post rock kind of sound. I enjoy riffing off of the drummer, Wyatt, and...

    Scoop the mids?

I've always read on this forum that scooping the mids from your signal will disappear you from the mix. ... I was hoping that someone here could point me to a recording in which the bass tone is scooped and sounds "just right." Help me talkbass, you're my only hope! -trent

Does anyone make an 8ohm, 6X6 style cab?

Currently I'm using my head to power a "Henry the 8X8" cab. I like the way so many tiny drivers can sound, but the cab is 4 ohms and is only rated at 500 watts. Since my head runs at 4 ohms, I'm only getting half the rated power of 1000 watts. So does anyone make an 8 ohm, very small...

    Spector makes... guitars?

I was browsing the Spector website and noticed the guitar section. Does anyone here have any experience with them? I'd imagine they sound just like the bass guitars... which would be awesome in the studio!

Tell me exactly how you feel.

...here is my all-time favorite recorded bass tone. Ever. (So far:smug:) The Band? Piglet. While whole song is pretty rad, (and please, please hear the whole thing) the first 25 seconds or so are very rad. What do you think?

    Foot controlled pitch wheel?

Do you know of those rubber wheels that can alter the pitch of a digital keyboard? Why not create an expression pedal that bends your output? Really, I want to place one of those at the end of my signal chain (boss loop station) so it would be possible to "bend" the loop. That would allow...

    Pix me a Mixer!

Er, Mix my pixer! Wait, uh.. mix my... In the blue corner, weighing in at roughly 400 dollars, is the "Samson MDR-16". In the red at around 400 dollars, we have an.. "Allen & Heath ZED-14" To record my band, I know I'll need at least 2 mic inputs, 1 bass, 1 guitar, 1 synth, (Possibly) 1...

    Are these vibrations... normal?

My cab is too narrow; my head lays flat across the top of it, with the rubber feet swinging inches off the edge (of the cab). I would imagine that these rubber casters are engineered to dampen vibrations - sort of like shock absorbers. Am I hurting my head by bypassing the rubber technology?

    Electric Drums VS. Loop Machine

Hello Everybody, I've got a few questions. I bought an RC-20XL loop machine, and I love it. I was wondering if there was any way to raise (or more importantly, lower) the playback volume of the looper WITHOUT having to bend over and touch the pedal. Also, I've heard rumors that loud bass...

    Tapping on flats?

Hello all, I was wondering... I do a lot of soft slapping and tapping. In the middle of a very "mathy" post-post rock slap riff I'll throw in one or two taps to create a very fluid, wobble-y bubble jam. I'm using a Spector 6, bubinga style, through a Trace. Would changing my rounds to...

    Henry the wounded 8X8

Hello everybody, thanks for stopping by! I just picked up an older "Henry the 8X8" at my local pawn shoppe ($200!) but unfortunately, one or more of the speakers is busted. It's hard to tell when I play loud, but if I play it soft enough I can hear a very distinct "Ppfffffhhhhhhhhh" sneaking...

    Franken-Elliot

Hello all! Quick question. Is it possible to reproduce the "classic" "trace elliot" sound? What pedals/amps/basses/ would you need? I'm trying to get a handle on what one might sound like. Any descriptions, opinoins, references, etc. would be helpful. Thanks!

    Do you love... your drummer?

  18. I

    Do you love...

...your drummer? I've been told that the bassist-drummer relationship is a crucial one. One that can either hold a band together or allow it to hit the floor in pieces. So how do you handle it? Are you close friends? Mere acquaintances? Best buds? ..or lovers?

    Question concerning a modular set-up.

Okay. I'm a six-string bassist looking for a cheap, versatile rig that would be loud enough to gig with. Here are my options: One 212 cab and one 210 One 112 and a 410 A 112 and 210 Plain old 410. You see, I value my low end output, but not enough to dedicate an entire rig to a...

    How do you do it?

My guitar is one octave lower than yours.

An acoustic guitar and a six string bass. A match made in heaven? possibly. We are starting a band. A band unlike any other. I refuse to play follow-me bass. I want to be more than just "low end." I will create melody. I will add power and other things. Does anyone else share my views?

    New bassist seeking amp. ..again.

Hello. I know you've heard this all before, but.. I'm a fresh bassist looking for a cab. I'm not a musical newbie, though. I've been playing guitar for 3 years, so my left hand is pretty decent. I've spent about 2 months tooling around with my Spector 6 string, and it's pretty safe...
