LR Baggs Voice Print DI ABG

So I bought an LR Baggs Voice Print DI. I’m a luthier and wanted to test it with a few pickups. My first tests were with a Taylor Nylon String with Taylor’s pickup. Huge improvement! Second test was with a steel string I built with a K and K Pure Mini. Again, huge improvement. I both cases the...

    Cable and Gear Bag Question

I've tended to be the guy in our band (and past bands as well) that carries most of the essentials and spares for the band. Lots of mic cables, speaker cables, power strips, extension cords, mics, spare instrument cables, DIs, etc. I find nothing worse than showing up to a gig and not having...

    Double Bass String Experiments

I started playing my '60s Kay again recently (have been playing my 1800s Czech). The Kay had old old Thomastiks on it and it seemed due for a change. I bought a set of LaBella White Tapewounds to try out. They've been good for a few months, but I decided to start playing some of our band...

NS Design CR5M This has been a great bass for me, but it sits in the closet most of the time (I have two uprights so little call for the EUB). The only nicks are two small ones around the heel (3 pictures) and one at the first fret marker on the side (pictured - almost can't feel it)...

    Flecktones

Got to go see Bela Fleck and the Flecktones last night. Hadn't seen them in many years. Victor is simply amazing! I'm blown away every time I get to see or hear him, but live is certainly a wonderful treat. Makes me want to woodshed, a lot!!!!

I've got three speaker cabs for sale. First is an Eden 410xlt. Originally purchased in 1997, this is a great 410. It is in great shape and hasn't seen a lot of use (I was playing upright most of the time with my other cabs). $400 + actual shipping (hoping for a local pickup). SoldNext is a...

Amp Comparrisons - Woods, Eden, GB

I'm in the process of updating my rig. I just bought a pair of Baer ML112s hoping to use one instead of my EA VL110 and Bag End 115 setup (so far so good) and both to replace my Eden 410. Having done that, I'm now looking at whether to change my amp setup. I currently have a Walter Woods...

    110 & 115 vs 2 x 112?

I've had my current rig for quite a while now, an EA 110 and a Bag End 115. I have a Walter Woods 1200w head to run them. When I got this set up, I was mostly playing upright jazz gigs. ( I also have an Eden WT800 with an Eden 410 cab). I also picked up an Acoustic Image Contra, 1st gen. For...

    Rob Allen MB-2

I recently took part in a trade, letting my Mouse go and picking up an MB-2. Tuesday night I played my first gig with the bass and I've got to say I just love it! Rob Allen makes an amazing fretless bass!!! I can't say enough good things about it! I love my MTD, but the MB-2 just has a...

    FS-'72 Fender Jazz Bass

I am selling my '72 Fender Jazz to fund my next purchase. I had it gone through completely when I purchased it. It appeared that one pot had been replaced and one pickup rewound. There is no serial number on the butt of the neck, but the name stamps on the body and neck match up. Some slight...

    Vinage Jazz vs Lull M4V

Last year I bought a '72 Fender Jazz from a TBer. It is a great bass with a great sound, but I'm finding that the beast is just heavy for gigging (over 11 lbs). I'm considering selling it but want something with that Jazz Bass sound. How does the M4V compare? I may get up to a shop to try it...

    Favorite Bass or Biggest Surprise

I just read a bunch of posts on "What was your most disappointing bass?" I thought I'd go the other way. I haven't had any great surprises, but my favorite bass is my MTD 535 with the Mango top. Amazing sound, very versatile, and a true beauty.

    Vintage Jazz Question

So, I've got some great basses that I love, but nothing that has a vintage jazz sound. In the $2500 or less range would you keep looking for a decent '70s jazz bass or go with a Mike Lull m5v (I generally play 5's)? I know everyone has an opinion, just looking for some thoughts on the deal.
