How many people have their bass set up to manufacturer specs......relief in neck, bridge and nut set up etc.??? MusicMan specs seem to yield what I percieve to be high action and I would prefer a tad lower. Is it abnormal to prefer lower than what the manufacturer says??

Reading around here it appears that how a bass looks is a big deal to most people if not all. Why is that? Why do looks matter at all? I thought is was all about playability, tone and build quality etc.

Is there anything that a "bass amp" (think Hartke, Ampeg, Mesa etc.) can do that a PA can't? When I say PA I mean mixer, xover, compression, delay, EQ, amps, tops, subs, wedge monitors etc. and assuming that all components are good in quality....not the best out there but by no means entry level.
