    What are you eating?

Simple enough. What are you currently eating or just finished eating (or perhaps even about to eat)? After getting home from work at 1am, I opted for canned pasta sauce on toast. Surprisingly delicious.

NAD: Monster Ampeg (not really...) - Pic heavy-ish

Ampeg Micro-VR I picked this up at Long & McQuade (Canada wide music store) the other day after having ordered it, and my first impression? I LOVE this amp! The oomph and punch coming from it is amazing! Unfortunately, the fan is a bit annoying, but it's nothing major. There were a few...

Yet another 'can you identify this bass?' thread...Can you, please?

The seller claims this bass is an 'AXI' (which I've never heard of, nor can I find any information on it). I've never seen this kind of headstock anywhere. Apparently it's 'brand new', and it's been relic'd/antique'd. There's no close-up photos, unfortunately. Just this one.

Question about the Fender 2011 Deluxe Jazz

I've got a 2010 Deluxe Jazz (built from parts). I've been looking for a pickguard for the last little while, but I haven't been able to find any short of getting one custom made for twice the price. I've been trying to do it myself, but no luck so far. With the recent release of the 2011...

    Refinishing a New Guitar

Long story short... I would like to build my girlfriend a guitar, making it pink, and turning into a sort of 'Hello Kitty' guitar (I just threw up a little). I'm not at the point where I could build an acoustic, so I'll have to buy one new. So I'm looking to buy a smaller acoustic guitar...

    Steve! Don't Eat It!

Quite simply, it's a blog about a guy (Steve) who eats really, really, really gross things. Examples of featured food: A mushroom growing on his tree, diseased corn in a can, and prison wine. It's a good read. http://www.thesneeze.com/steve-dont-eat-it/

    Neat crawlspace find

Today I was looking for my dad's pickup and bridge covers from his '79 Jazz (I guess the year doesn't really matter...), and I stumbled upon these: Pickups from an old 80's Precision my dad had: Back in 80's, my dad bought a 1980 pre-Dallas Schecter precision. It had passive pickups, and...

    TES V Skyrim - a closer look

Yep, there's more updates in the news for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I've been waiting since Morrowind for a ES featuring Skyrim. Im quite positive I spent more time on the island of Solstheim than I did the actual island of Vvardenfel, purely because I loved the winter atmosphere...

Wiring for a 2010 jazz deluxe - pics or diagrams

Hey there, I'm finally doing the electronics for my 2010 Jazz deluxe that I bought in parts. I've tried very hard to find wiring diagrams, but I haven't had any luck. I know that they haven't released aftermarket parts for it yet (because they can't even keep up), so I imagine the diagrams...

Next leve in an interview - CNC machinist input welcomed

I graduated from high school last year, so I'm a young lad. I've worked at Canadian Tire (retail, yay) for close to two years, and it's time get a real job. In the longterm, I've got my sights on law enforcement/military, but my eyes are too poor. So I've got to wait until I'm 21 before I can...

Ever have a mover bail on you in a fit of rage?

I was helping my girlfriend and her mom move yesterday, and she managed to find a reasonable local (and independant) mover who was willing to take a post-dated check. In hearing a 'large sounding engine' outside, we peeked out the door. There was his massive moving truck stuck in the...

    Just a simple question...

Not quite related to Luthierism, however, the members of this forum are knowledgable when it comes to wood and stain/paint/finish/anything related to it. Well, below is a picture of a bass. I think it may be mahogony, however, if it is, isn't mahogony normally lighter than that. What kind of...

Cedar for a neck (not the fretboard)

I understand that cedar is a strong, durable wood. It's not prone to warping, decay, twisting, or any of the sort. I'm going to be starting my first build soon enough, and thus far I'm considering pine for the body (with a nice center strip of something) and I haven't decided what kind of...

Pickguard template for 2010 jazz deluxe

Hello there, I've got a 2010 jazz deluxe I'm 'building', and I'm going for a tortoise shell pickguard. I know that Fender is having enough difficulty manufacturing the 2010 deluxes, so any replacement parts are not being released. This has led me to make my own pickguard. I've got a piece...

    Cutting a tortoise shell pickguard

For my 2010 Jazz deluxe, I'm going to be buying a tortoise shell blank (it'll be 60$ CAN, about the same price as a pre-made tort), which I will (of course) cut out to fit my Jazz. Now the concern I have is what tools to use, and explosions (yes, explosions). In talking to one of the guys at...

Where would a guy find Lakland style bridges?

I love the round-ish look of the bridge, and I wouldn't mind using one like it for a build in the future. Just curious, where would one find such a bridge (preferably online, seeing as I live in Canada)?

Your MIA 2010 Jazz deluxe - how much did pay?

Happy New Year, guys. I'm putting together a 2010 Jazz deluxe (buying all the parts seperately) and I'm curious as to how much you guys paid for it. When all is said and done, I'll probably have paid around 1200$ (CAN) for mine.

Hollowbody bass, how much harder to build?

I've always wanted to build my own basses. I'm quite excited to put together the 2010 Jazz deluxe. I'm buying all the parts individually and put it together myself. I figure it'll be a nice stepping stone into building my own bass from the ground up. Eventually, I'd want to take a shot at...

All Parts: Comparable to the autentic parts?

In my efforts to assemble my own 2010 Fender Jazz, several people have referred my to Allparts. Though I refuse to settle for 'Fender Licensed replacement parts', I may end up purchasing other items for future projects from them. Are Allparts items comparable to authentic MIA parts? Even MIM?

    Jamerson - Isolted Bass

Knowing TB, this'll have been posted several times already. However, I'm going to bring light to it again. There are several isolated Jamerson bass lines. It's good for a listen. You can really hear his hook in these videos.

All Parts: Comparable to the autentic parts?

More specifically, the bodies and the necks. Their bodies and necks for Fender Jazz and Precisions...Are they on par with autentic Fender (either MIA or MIM), or is there a distinct quality difference? Curious is all, in case I ever decide I want to build a Fenderbird, or the need for a...

    Fenderbird

Well, I'd like to put together a Fenderbird for myself, so I'm going to start keeping a lookout for stuff I might need. I'm new to the concept of Fenderbirds (...and assembling basses in general, actually). Is it really as simple as buying a Fender neck (aftermarket or all parts) and...

    Information on Fender Jazz Deluxe's

I'm going to be 'building my own' (meaning that I'm just going to assemble the bass). I want to have more of a satisfaction feeling when playing after having built it, rather than just buying a whole new bass. Well, I've got the body of a 2010 Fender Jazz Deluxe, and now the next item is the...
