    Rules?

Put it this way theory is a great tool to writing or playing music, but it should be thought of a guidline rather than rules. You can change them or break them whenever you see fit whatever sounds best.

    What bass should I "buy"?

I was unaware of that (to all those saying to rent this is the only store that carries guitars/basses.) and that will defiantly be the first thing I'll ask about when arriving. You are only demonstrating your lack of intelligence by posting an extended YouTube comment on here.

    What bass should I "buy"?

Please as I have stated I intend to return the bass in the condition purchased (not opening the wrap, ripping off tags/stickers, etc.) and pay the restocking fee so the store even makes a profit besides the only other music store around that rents out instruments is a wind instrument shop. And...

    What bass should I "buy"?

What I considered doing with my bass but it wouldn't fit and I tried every suitcase I had as well.

    What bass should I "buy"?

Cost wouldn't let me take my bass over 80 bucks to ship it on ground or over 100 to fly it with me.

    What bass should I "buy"?

Thank you good sir for your generous contribution to this thread I asked a simple question and your reply clearly demonstrated your ability to answer it in a manner common on the internet: stupidly.

    What bass should I "buy"?

I plan to take care of the bass as I do all the ones I own, as best as I can and they will even profit from the restocking fee so I don't see Guitar Center getting ripped off or anything.

    What bass should I "buy"?

Yeah I know many of these threads have been made but the circumstances are a bit different. I'm on vacation and the only music store around here is Guitar Center so I'm just planning to buy any bass I'd like and return it before I leave so I'm having trouble deciding which one to get. After...

Help my only "bass" is a guitar

Alright I guess I'll try to fumble my way through some guitar(d) tabs Smoke on the Water here I come (joking of course), and I'm in Nacadoges (no idea how to spell it) which is close to Lufkin so if anyone knows of any good music stores in that area I'd be pleased for info thanks.

Help my only "bass" is a guitar

So I'm visiting family in a state (TX) a good distance from the one I live in (OR) so until I can get my bass shipped (taking it on the airlines was way too expensive) over to me the only intrument I got is a First Act acoustic guitar and I'm not even sure its full size at that:crying:. Any of...

Your thoughts on the G&L bridges?

Alright thanks guys I was just wondering if it might be something to replace in the future in case I wanted to upgrade the bass but it seems like its already a good bridge.

Your thoughts on the G&L bridges?

Just wondering what you folks think of the G&L bridges, I mean the website says the screw pushing the saddles together makes for a better sound. Would you say its better then bridges used by other companies? Say Fender or Musicman?

strings that don't have silk @ the end

To me all guitar strings are too loose they cant take much pressure without being bent to god knows where, guess its just the power of being a bassist:D But I got my knock off P strung with EB Hybrids and I use it mostly for metal since the action is so high the strings are not that lose at all...

strings that don't have silk @ the end

Like Ox said D'Addarios no silk and great strings but if you play more rockish stuff (punk, metal, etc.) then I'd recommend Ernie Ball. Their hybrid slinkies don't have it for sure and I'm assuming their other stuff doesn't, but they die kinda fast but the tone is worth it, providing its one you like.

Iron Tusk Mastodon Tab (Tuning) Question

Alright, thanks. Didn't think of that hopefully my nut will accomodate the thicker strings too.

How does YOUR band write music?

My band's song writing process sounds much like yours but instead we base the song off of the bass not the guitar for a couple reasons. One is right now I'm playing most of the lead stuff so the guitar is mostly there to accent my riffs and spice up the song. But mostly I'd try to have them go...

Iron Tusk Mastodon Tab (Tuning) Question

So your saying the song is tuned in AGCF?
  19. R

Iron Tusk Mastodon Tab (Tuning) Question

Maybe not related to tabs completely but best place for my question (I'm guessing) the majority of the tabs (Bassmasta, Untimate-Guitar, 911 Tabs, etc.) I've seen for this song says it is tuned AGCF. Well on a four string tuning to that low A makes the string darn near unplayble being floppier...

Most famous bass line of all time.

I like how on the site the guy condridicts himself numerous times he says "And of note, bass solos do not count, so that is why My Generation isn't on this list." and after quickly skimming the list I saw he listed Orion, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Tommy the Cat, The Pot, and N.I.B. Then on the...

My Band... Let me know what you guys think!

I'd let your current vocalist stay, a little band called U2 has that same situation where Bono was still "finding his voice" you could say, and they wanted Edge to sing instead. I bet if he sticks with it his voice will really develop.

My Band... Let me know what you guys think!

When I first heard "Another Night" I tought "yeah man sexy sound going there." Anyways the music sounds fine, not the biggest fan of your vocalist, but then again I've heard a lot singers that sound like yours in crappy bands (not saying yours is crappy by any means) so that may be why. But...

Composing music, what do YOU do? (All forms of music welcomed)

For me since my knowledge of chords and progressions is very limited I usualy start with a key signature, change a note or two if I don't like the way it sounds with the other ones. (for the most part I usually change half-steps since I don't try to write that much metal stuff) Then I end up...

    SB-2 Pick-up Question/problem

Okay so I got a Tribute SB-2 a few months ago and I'm fairly sure the J pick up isn't working, I've heard its supposed to act more like a tone control but does that mean it cant be heard unless the P pick-up is turned up? Because I notice a very small difference in my sound when I have the J...

Great bands with one or two crappy songs...?

Tool's Disgustapated on Undertow, I can't stand it, a fifteen minute song and half of it is "Life feeds on life" over and over, then the other half is crickets chirping and rainforest noises.

    Picking out a new amp

Used stuff isn't really an option for me at the moment the only music stores that carry guitar stuff are 5 Star Guitars and Guitar Center but thanks for your suggestion I'll start looking them up right away. Picking out a new amp

Well I'm thinking about getting a new amp (which will make it my second one) and since income for a 15 year old its fairly limited I really need to pick the right one, I've looked at a bunch of amps and I'm fairly sure I want to go with a Mesa Boogie cabnet, however I have no idea which one to...
