You could try to let go of almost all the pressure in the bow change. Also IME the open strings need less weight and perhaps slightly more speed than the stopped notes.

Thanks guys, not really aiming for an orchestra job, just curious! I mean could you describe the actual audition playing situation. Are you given instructions from the jury on the other side of the screen? Is it really possible to keep it "anonymous"?

Make sure your bass in tune, you can hear some of the open strings being a bit off here. Getting a teacher is a good idea. Listen to a lot of jazz, try transcribing some simple stuff from recordings. Practice melodies and walking bass to a metronome on 2 and 4. Maybe this can help you... Just my...
