yep - have had to replace 3 fingers myself already! oh yeah, strings are definitely effects, too!! hahah! :P

    graphite picks

thanks for the link and confirmation, slurpy. i'd read they were discontinued, just didn't want to believe it! anyway, perhaps i concede to your wikipedia research about effects. but i'd still, in my own mind, consider them effects in this sort of way 'a hand-held non-electronic attack effect'...

    graphite picks

so you're saying you don't know, then no need to post in this thread. but, thanks anyway, i've never used that thread and you're right in that there's a good chance the technique folks may have some useful suggestions. (btw, picks ARE effects if one wants them to be. it's perspective and how...

    graphite picks

p.s. --- i know graphite picks aren't technically an effect, BUT - i consider any form of variation on how you attack the strings an effect as it changes the sound.... :)

    Love for the EHX Mole

i really like the mole in contexts i didn't expect... for nice quiet warm gentle heartfelt songs. i was expecting to use for big fat in your face songs, so was quite surprised when i realised it's best purpose - to fatten up your tone on the quiet ones. if you put in a mole after your fuzz or...

    Octave Divider

let's face it, there aren't any great octave pedals for bass. i have to disagree with bassbrad, though - i've found the EHX octave multiplexer to be just about the worst pedal EHX has and i truly believe in that company, so was really disappointed when i tried it out. there's a significant...

    power adapter

check out diago power station - - diago is a small british company that makes a great all purpose power pack for your pedals; you can get numerous attachments for various pedals that aren't your standard 9V center negatives (like boss). i think the site is www.diago.co.uk i use it to power 12...

    mike gordon - DI

does anyone know which DI box mike gordon uses immediately after his tuner, before the signal goes to the effects? he used to use a countryman, but which one? thanks.

    ps-6 harmonist with bass

thanks, crapusername. that's my gut feeling is i'll still need to stick with m oc-2... but the other features look great! was hoping to save space on the board by using it as an octave replacement with all the bells and whistles. i'll try it and see. we might be the only 2 crazy enough here...

    Getting lost in the mix?

ehx steel leather could help you out a bit here. i don't use it b/c it can be a bit too clangy and bring out more funk than suits the music i play, but try it out. sounds a bit errrrr on it's own, but in the mix it can help you cut through on the fills and melodic moving lines.

    Pedalboard setup help

the best is to stand there for hours on end playing your lines constantly changing the order of the pedals till you find the order that suits your sound the best. that said, get a tuner that can kill the sound instantly and put that first. the rest is up to you... but filters and...

    Advice on Pedal Tuners

i use a boss TU3. it's been great so far! and i tune probably 15-20 times in a show with it, constantly tweaking and detuning and then bringing the strings back in tune - it's my best friend on the board. i really like the flashing lights closing in the centre. never had a problem with noise...

    my pedalboard... comments? suggestions? advice?

i agree with basshappi --- but, if you don't want to spend too much money and like cool sound, start with the bassballs from electroharmonix. this can give you just a little bite or funk on the attack to raging swoops of noise - and great through the flanger, too! go for it!

    Big Muff

i love the bass big muff - it's great! one thing, though, like any fuzz, it's going sound different (a bit fuzzier, or bit fatter, or a bit thinner, or a bit more distorted, or bit weaker, etc) depending on which amp you're sending the signal to or if you're going through the DI. if you're...

    Bass Chorus talk....

i have ceb-3 and on it's own it's not that great and i use if for a grand total of about 25 seconds -- and it's on it's way off the board! but it gives a bit of spirit to the bass synth. justin chancellor uses a ce-5... so maybe try that one - he knows more than me! :)

New to octave, filter, fuzz, delay, chorus

the best is to just experiment with them and the songs you play and find the order that works best for the majority of your lines. but, i tend to use this order: filter(synth) - octave - fuzz - delay - chorus i used to have the fuzz before the octave, but in the end it was beefier with the...

    ps-6 harmonist with bass

hi, i'm new here and would appreciate anyone's help on this one: has anyone tried out the new boss ps-6 harmonist with bass? as usual, all the youtube clips are with guitar. if you've tried it, what are your thoughts? and particularly, how does it track an octave down? thanks.
