Hey, that's my amp!
Well, I have the same model, that is. And it is, bar none, the best I've ever had. The 4 8" versions are pretty uncommon, I believe.
That sound I was always looking for, finally found.
All hail, B2!
And yet, NO-ONE wants a road worn girlfriend, real or fake....
Actually, I think Ford should try this - Road Weary Mustang. faded and scratched paint, couple dents, missing hubcap, cracked platic dash and a few burns in the seat. $3000 optional package.
I have a 60-odd year old upright...

If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men."
- Ripple, Grateful Dead
'Cause just like a tree planted - planted by the rivers of water
That bringeth forth fruits - bringeth forth...
"Lowrider" was my gateway drug...so I gotta give props to BB Dickerson.
After that came Larry Graham, Bootsy, Flea, Duck, George Porter, Robbie Shakespeare, Family Man...and on and on
Long ago back in the day there was a G'n'R tribute band called Runs in yer Hoses.
And this from the Simpsons:
Becky (to Otto): You got Poison to play at our wedding!?
Lead Singer: We're CYANIDE, A loving tribute to Poison!
Drummer: We need a ride home!
OP:
Sounds like early-onset musicians' mid-life crisis. I should know, you sound like me when I was 26. I'm 38 now, and you will be too before you know it. Here's what I have learned:
You can waste a lot of time regretting what you haven't done, instead of doing what you need to do. I firmly...
If I were you, just keep on with the Epi, and keep your eyes peeled for a good deal on SG...and be on the lookout for one of those Elitist Epi EB-3s, they were really well done.
I gotta agree with Pilgrim, sounds like you already have the bass you want.
That said: I have the Gibson SG, and I do love it. So much so I got rid of my other basses. Compared to the Epi, it has (to me) a better feel, and a higher level of quality.
Couple of big differences off the top - you...
Yeah, hard to describe, I wish I could draw a picture...180 deg sorta desribes it. Maybe "folded" is more accurate...likely depends on the strap, I use a pretty wide one. And I loop my cable thru too...
Hmmm...one idea. Sometimes, after the guitar has been on the stand and then you pick it back up and strap on, the strap end would be flipped, the strap itself with a twist. (know what I mean? It's kinda hard to explain...) point is the straplock would upside down...happens to me every now and...
Well I play mine (SG) both ways...I will say they really do lend themselves to pickstyle, it just feels right.
Also, importantly, you get more clarity...at least with the mudbucker models.
Hmmm, yeah I've seen that Smurfs trailer one too many times too...
The times, they are a-becoming very different...Top 40 is dead, prime time TV dead too, and the same goes for big theatre. Quality can't be counted on anymore (to make money). So it melts down to this, the lowest common...
Ahh, great stuff!
On the other hand, here are some words that should get more play:
Trousers
Daffodil
"sharky"
Forum
Ampeg
Wednesday (extra points for over-pronunciation)
"King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown" by Augustus Pablo (Robbie on bass, I believe)...
This track is the reason I play.
You must play this LOUD, if your speakers can handle it....
Then there's the Dos Equis guy.
He taught bass to the Pygmies, using the treble clef.
He's the most interesting man in the world.
Stay thirsty, my friends.
I got two: 80's hair band tracks where when it gets real exciting, the singer shouts "Yow-za!"
Or this gem - just as the solo is about to start, singer goes "Guitar!!"
Methinks I should take all these examples listed on this tread and compile them into one really super awesome song...and sing it Hetfield style.
It's gold, Jerry, GOLD!
I hate forums.
They keep me up all night...
I've been reading this one for quite a few years, and thought it would a good time to join. I have never been a forum member before, so if I make any mis-steps, kindly let me know.
About me: I've been playing for 20 years or so; mostly in my...
