Funny thing, I never named my bass officially....but I have referred to it as my "Associate"....

Yes, I am not a buzzkill and like to have fun. An ex girlfriend of mine named my MIM P-bass "Joe", I named my Walnut satin Squier P special "The Matt Taylorbass" (google Motion City Soundtrack's Matt Taylor, he plays a 70's root beer P that is drop dead gorgeous and is why I bought the walnut squier), and my Jag has yet to earn a name; it's just "The Jag" right now.

Right after I posted this, my brother reminded me that we renamed the MIM P "Moonfruit". Sorry for the confusion.

Oh, and you have to say "The Jag" with a brit accent, or it doesn't count.

I have so many people (mainly girls) ask me "so does your bass have a name?" I always reply with MM, squier, etc but they mean a persons name. Do you guys name your basses? If so, what are the names and is there a reason you named it?

I had a friend in high school who named her Martin acoustic "Marty." I thought that was pretty clever.

As for me, usually no. I don't see the point in it. However, when I got my newest bass, the name "Black No. 1" got stuck in my head.
