What's Your Bass/Guitar's Name?

Yes, but only as a joke. My acoustic guitar is Libby the Gibby (Gibson Southern Jumbo), my electric guitar is Betty the Gretty (Gretsch G5120), and my bass Becky the Schecky (Schecter Riot-5). Also, my car is Ruby the Suby (Subaru Forester). I don't actually refer to them by name very ofter, only to make my wife laugh. I did give them all girls names because it is the right thing to do (who ever heard of a guitar, car, boat, or gun that was a dude?!). Oh, my wife wanted me to name my bass Hector the Schecter...

I wouldn't want to name em after guys, it would sound weird. Like "oh hey what bass you playing tonight?", "Oh I am playing 'Harry' all night." People might get the wrong impression.

Lakland JO - Windy
Lakland Decade - Madison
Fender '51 RI Pbass - Roxanne
Fender Fretless P - Mandy

Roxanne and Windy are named after songs played by the signature artist (Sting and Joe Osborne); Madison, being my dream bass, is the name picked out by my parents if i'd been born a woman; and Mandy is named after a girl in Louisiana who had a "fat bottom" and was "smooth on top" ;)

i name anything that has enough personality to deserve a name, mainly cars, basses, and pets.

Not in any seriousness, but friends have named my ric Ricky Martin. My schecter Ryan schecter (Ryan scheckler) and a friend of mine has Bertha and lil hurricane. Lil hurricane is a random sg copy guitar he found in the house he rents. Already had the name scratched in the back so why not.

I do.

Someone shared this piece of advice with me once...

"When you name your bass, do you really want to be hugging 'James" all day? No. You would rather be hugging a chick. So, you *should* give it a chicks name."

Oh yeah, my upright is named Simon, my Epiphone Ripper is gonna be named....Uh, still working on that, and my fretless is Betty (As in "Black Betty")

The Esp Bass is "Grrrr" and the BC Rich bass is "Merlin". Grrrr being named as a combo of the two basses it replaced. Merlin after the wizard. Cause is 1st bass Ive had that sounds like and has the output power of a nice active but is passive and has warmer then average voiced humbucker pups, plus richest harmonics of any bass Ive owned. So is kinda magickal one. Lol. Naming them is slightly shamanistic and just for fun thing. Lol.

The last one I ever gave a human name to was a Fender Jazz Bass I once owned. I named it Amanda after my exgirlfriend, because it had a lot of bottom end. Other than that, I used to call my 55-02, "the black bitch," and that was only on occasion.
