Schecter Ultra Bass-- Anyone have a review?

It's not bad actually, not much neck dive at all. Could probably use a good setup so I will drop her off to my luthier next week for a string change and inspection. Massive B string sound on this bass, actually a bit uneven at present compared to the higher strings, so might need pickup...

Schecter Ultra Bass-- Anyone have a review?

reviving an old thread there but there was no other posts about these basses so here we go... Just picked up this Schecter Ultra-5 Satin Black today. Fantastic looking and playing bass.

What do you consider a heavy bass?

Yeah I hear this - had to get rid of my fav bass (Roscoe JJ5) two years ago due to being almost 60 and having developed arthritis. Switched to an Ibanez SR2605 last year and it is much lighter. I still pickup my Sadowsky on occasion as well, but she's a bit heavy in comparison.

Should I buy a better bass , a better amp, both or just hold off?

Do you know what sort of venues this band will be playing? i.e.: will you even need a large amplifier onstage? Most professional stages incorporate IEMs instead of amps and monitor wedges onstage these days. Is there a sound system you will be using? What is the quality of said sound system. All...

Anyone had hands on with the Ibanez SR2605???

Yes owned it for about one year now. Fantastic bass. Is my go to now, even more than my Sadowsky RV5.

    NBD - Ibanez SR2605 Premium 5-string

I got this SR2605 about one year ago now and I love everything about it except for the luminescent side dots they put on these basses. Sounds like a good idea, but they don't really work, especially under low light conditions where it isn't completely dark. Turns out you can't even see what fret...

    Ibanez SR2600/SR2605, show your burls!

Just got this beauty to make my Sadowsky RV5 jealous (occasionally - she knows she's still my #1). Had my eye on one of these for awhile but was waiting for a good price before pulling the trigger. £1200 in the end. Well worth the money. Lovely bass.

Name or show just ONE bass that you WISH you could have bought!!!

This beauty sat on a shelf in my local shop for two years when I lived in Canada. One day I had enough money saved to possibly buy it. I went down to the shop... it had been sold the day before. So yeah, the Ken Smith BSR5 would be my "one that got away". *sniff

B7K or Alpha Omega for Praise and Worship

Just my two cents... Whatever overdrive they're using is probably only for their own ears either through an amp onstage or in-ears. I highly doubt that an Elevation or Hillsong FOH soundperson would want your pedal affected bass signal coming through the mains. So just go with whatever pedal...

How do i get a good Tone for Worship?

Ha. No I did not, but that would have been something indeed. LOL No I ran the 2nd BDDI into the dUg and then into the Ampeg if I wanted a little bit more. It was merely for my own amusement and if I needed more punch to cut through the monitor mix. The one BDDI straight to the REDDI was enough...

How do i get a good Tone for Worship?

As a former (retired) worship bassist of many years for a couple of big mega-churches, I can tell you that the best thing you can do is to get a setup for in-ears that allows you to get the sound YOU want in your own ears and not worry about the sound the congregation is hearing. You have no...

Was Your First Bass (Basses) What Your Idols Played?

I can completely relate to this. I have a very similar story. I had to quit playing 6 string guitars in about 2008 due to arthritis in my left hand. Was just too painful to carry on. Almost gave up music (actually did for about 2 years) but then a chance came up to play bass and I just went for...

Was Your First Bass (Basses) What Your Idols Played?

Absolutely. My first bass was a 1980 Fender Jazz sunburst - as close as I could get to all of the pictures of JPJ's bass I would see in Creem magazine or some other rock band rag. I moved on to focus on guitar after 1982 and played rhythm and lead for the next twenty-five years. Came back to...

AMPEG Experts: Can I get good SVT tube tones with a high quality attenuator and the AMPEG V-4B?

Of course you could always get one of these... not an SVT but basically a B15 in a box.

AMPEG Experts: Can I get good SVT tube tones with a high quality attenuator and the AMPEG V-4B?

+ 1 to Traynor Yeah if you live in Canada you have more of a chance of finding an old Traynor. You could also try an older Laney tube amp if you can find one.

Buying A New Bass – Your Input Needed!

+1 to the Fender - get the Pro if you can because they finish them a bit better than the standards. You cannot go wrong with a decent Fender Pro Precision.

Meh guitar player about to begin playing bass

+1 to this, I totally agree. 4 string, 5 string, 6 string, who cares? They're all basses. The necks are wider and the strings are spaced a bit differently. Go with what feels good to you. I started on a 4 string and then found 5 string was more to my personal liking. I've never gone back to a 4...

Meh guitar player about to begin playing bass

As a former lead and rhythm guitar player for most of my life who only dabbled occasionally in the land of bass playing, I would echo the advice to take lessons from an actual bass teacher. I switched to playing bass about 12 years ago and it is a completely different animal to guitar playing...

What bass have you owned the longest and do you still play it?

I go through basses like water so the fact that I still have my Sadowsky RV5 since 2013 is testament to how good these basses are. I have bought and sold at least a dozen basses since then but I will never get rid of the Sadowsky.

    Laney DIGBETH DB500H

I like it a lot. Especially for the money I spent on it (365 quid thanks to Black Friday and my Andertons points). Definitely not the amp for pure, clean tone (although the FET channel is not bad at all) but if you like to mix the FET in with some tube emulating dirt, this amp KILLS in that...

    A-Design REDDI in live setting?

Old thread but interesting question. I use my REDDI as a DI only straight to the board. My personal stage sound is a separate signal chain. Reason? Same as above - why mess with the pure sound of the bass if you've got a good one? Totally different, yet related question: I have moved from...

    Expensive vs inexpensive basses

As an owner of just about everything and every brand of bass in my life I will say without hesitation that the more expensive basses are undoubtedly better than the cheaper basses. So many reasons why... not even time to list them here. Suffice it to say I have a Sadowsky RV5 and a Yamaha...

Is it "cooler" to play a 4 string bass?

For me it depends on the style of music I'm playing. As a worship musician there are times when I absolutely need to bring the low B string into play for dynamics. But other genres of music don't necessarily need the low B. That being said, if you've got five strings and only need four, just...

    Yamaha BB425 vs BB1025 vs BB2025

Late to the game here (old post) but I own a BB2025X-BL and I used to own the 1025 series. Huge difference between the two. Massive. No contest. The 2025 series is a far superior instrument to the 1025. It might look the same, and I don't know if it's the Japanese craftsmanship, but the 2025 is...

Did Fender fix the hum issue on the new Am Dlx Jazzes?

Second update - my tech installed the Bartolini 57s. Dead quiet. Even with the existing preamp. In other words, Fender N3 Noiseless pickups are crap.

Did Fender fix the hum issue on the new Am Dlx Jazzes?

Update - Just got gifted a new gorgeous ADJV and guess what? Same issue. What the heck is Fender doing? But I'm not screwing around with this one. Already ordered new pups (Bartolini 57s) and I'm having my tech scrap the entire preamp. Great basses playing wise but these electronics are...

    Firefly or Reddi

Yeah I have a Firefly and I've owned a REDDI in the past. I love the REDDI but you can't send the affected signal to your amp. With the Firefly you can do that by selecting "POST" on the AUX OUT. It means the amp gets to share the same signal as the actual DI is sending to the board. REDDI only...
