Bacchus, Show 'em if you've got 'em!

I have played Sadowksy, owned Lakland, pretty much played every single common boutique bass out there. When it came down to looking for a 6 string I was playing FBass, MTD and Ken Smith. The Ken Smith was my favorite in terms of tone and feel but it is hard for me to justify spending $6k on a bass. So when i saw the Dx6 I was very intrigued. I can tell you that my DX6 is easily on par in terms of build quality with all those basses.

So after that I decided to buy a passive Bacchus J, since I loved the DX6 so much. This bass sounds as clear as a Fender Custom shop Jazz and plays as well as any boutique jazz. Well these are boutique Jazz basses, as they are handmade. So the highest end Bacchus is on par with any boutique builder you can think of.

yeah, I try and read about the models but everything is in Japanese. Are the high end Bacchus' built by the STR guys, or at least built in the same factory? The STR stuff is as nice as anything. I was hoping that the Bacchus' was the same quality as the STR but with a traditional look.

Yes the factory is called Deviser. Tons of good info on this site :

I believe the DX series is on the same level as STR. Honestly my DX - I am not sure what I could upgrade to make it higher quality.

I too have owned a Custom shop Fender ADJV, a Lakland US DJ5, and a Sadowsky MV5 in the past. My new Bacchus DX5 is better than any of those. Not kidding. Even I was surprised to realize that. Don't get fooled into spending $4000.00 on a bass. Put it this way... I just sold my other favorite bass (an Ibanez SR prestige) because there's no way it's going to get much use anymore now that I have the Bacchus.

Yeah it's funny to post these sentiments for me, but it's true. I mean, I was playing 5-6k 6 string basses and none spoke to me like the the DX6 which is a $2,500 bass. I loved the Sadowsky Jazzes, but not for the price they asked. The Bacchus brings more to the table for less $. I think we are benefiting from the strength of the dollar right now and the fact that they are not marketing their instruments at all in America.

Hey VSN - is there any chance of you guys carrying STR basses? I know they are ridiculously expensive. Are they a custom order?

Especially this one - which is my "one day" dream bass at the moment.
