My primary is my 1961 PBass. I was born in 1975.

Sorry for the picture quality. The ends are brown leather.

A little late to the party. Music should make you happy, play what makes you happy. I've been using Rotosound RS66LD on my 61 PBass. I have the covers on, and the bridge cover has the foam attached. I like the hybrid, for lack of a better term, sound I get from this set up. So do our sound...

I use Rotosound RS66LD on my 1961 Fender PBass, with the original frets. I play with a fairly light touch. I have not had issues with fret wear.

Is the 64 AVRI string mute sponge already cut? I need to replace an original one.

I agree, I love the slab boards as well. For me, those with some Labella 760FS strings, capturevthecsoind I want. Here's my 61 PBass. It's all original, except for a touch up on the finish on the upper horn.

Greetings, I just found this group. I'm not what you'd call tech savy. I'm a long time D Standard tuning user. I find the Labella 760FS (45-105) flatwounds on my 1961 PBass work great. Get a dark, thumpy growl as the bridge cover still has the foam mute attached.

Same here. Not a matter of need, got more pbasses than I can count. In all fairness though, I can't really count that high. Just really like the looks of them. Besides my wife hasn't objected to the prospect of another bass, and I don't know how long that will last.

I did some research, and found they were made by Teisco in Japan. Not worth it. I have 3 Ric basses already. I was just thinking about adding another (not the likeliest option being an old married guy) or possibly trading to get another in jetglo. Thank y'all again for your help.

I'll see if I can get a pick of them. My 74 has actual Grovers, and these don't look right. I thought I would check to see if anyone was familiar with them. Think I'll play safe route and pass. Thank You for the help.

I was looking at a 1973 4001. It has, what I thought were the proper closed back Grover tuners. The back of the tuners are smooth and not marked Grover USA. I thought these were replacements, but the owner believes they are original. The rest of the bass checks out. Any thoughts on the tuners?

Great basses! I have one as well. Arguably the best Jazz I have played/owned. Thinking of parting with it to feed my Ricenbacker addicton.
