Looking at that JPJ Fender Precision tells me some fellows are crazier than me…………………in a good way though !

Totally insane in terms of look and I guess it's the same with the tone.

One thing for sure, it's a very unique music monster ! Makes me want to have one……….

How you like the Duff sig? I have been considering one. Does the Hipshot work well?

It is a solid instrument. The sound is all Duff, especially when you run both pickups. The hipshot has been great, had to adjust it a bit when I put new strings on it, but from then it keeps that D ready and in tune.

(Also, can I add that the SqAf jazz bass is really underrated for a budget bass. The tone is great on it and it's real comfortable to play)

I'm a lifelong cyclist and used to race (licensed amateur) road bicycles. There was a local guy who luckily never raced (not a good/safe rider) but he obsessed about weight. He himself was a slight guy but his bike weighed nothing! Picking up his bike felt like picking us a wheelset. Those of us who raced wanted our bikes as light as they safely could be but would never risk the measures he took to lighten his bike. Even European pro-cycling has a weight-limit.

Basses on the other hand (or maybe I should say, on the other shoulder) can't be too light for me. So an ounce over 5lbs sounds pretty nice!

It's remarkable how little one needs to spend to have a playable bass these days. Plus, they provide an affordable platform for improvement/upgrades where it counts.

Indeed. It's secondhand but the previous owner hardly used it. Had to to a set up first, it sounds okay, but I guess the EMG Geezer P's will be an upgrade, just like a 3-ply black pickguard.
Then I'll do some work on the bridge and nut to fit a set of 0.175-0.85 strings to tune it down to F#BEA so it'll be my backup bass for the doommetal band.
