I recently got a RWJ in the same color. I have to say that this is one of the finest Jazz Basses I have ever played. These are super light and very punchy. You will be very happy with this bass. Did you notice a significant difference with the new Fralins and the original stock fenders? Good luck.

Every time I have seen him at Saxquest in St. Louis with The Mu'tet he has sat down. In videos of him with the Yellowjackets he was standing. He is very tall (makes me look like a fat midget) and his hands are huge.

From the top they are: Volume (some had a push-pull for active passive), Pickup Blend, Stack (treble top/bass lower), midrange and a Mid-Scoop Switch. I have a 4 banger and love it.

I love my new Sting Bass Reissue but it has some inherent noise due to the single coil pickups. If I shield it with copper tape just how much reduction in hum can I expect? I know I could go with a noiseless pickup but I like the tone now. Just want it a bit quieter. Thanks!

Thanks! That is a great explanation of the differences. I have been listening to a lot of Pino and am digging his big P sound. My main bass is a Lakland 44-02 and it just can't provide that classic P tone...it comes close but no cigar. It's a lot of fun looking and learning.

Yeah, it's a 2005-2006 from Japan. Also found a Sting model at $550 but trying to talk him down. I saw that the 51 Japanese are +$700 at GC. Are they that good?

Hey TBer's, what's the best P-bass for $400? Been watching my local CL and our classifieds but would love some opinions. I did find a nice 51 Reissue but without the ash trays and pickguard for $475 but would like to stay at $400.
