Didn't Sir Paul play a lot of palm mutes? How did he do it? Or did he only do it on the Höfner?

I've had relatively little success in playing palm mutes on my 4003. I either don't produce the right palm mute effect, or mute the instrument completely, depending on whether I apply pressure. Is there a trick? I can make it happen just fine on instruments with conventional bridges.

Because the U-Bass travels really well, we already had Amanda's bulky hard case in the car along with my amp, luggage, and gifts we were bringing, and the U-Bass is small enough that I can practice with it while sitting in the front passenger seat while we're under way. Next time: the 4003W.

At home, I hang mine on the wall: I just played out for the first time with my (spruce top acoustic) U-Bass, and the little folding guitar stand I brought along worked perfectly. No one had seen a bass ukulele before, and I got more comments on it than I did on our playing.

Had a 4003W offered, which I passed on (knots in the walnut, and discolouration in the maple stripe through the centre), so my W won't be here in time for the GTG. I'll bring my combo, the extension cab, the 5-string, the U-Bass, and probably the GeezerJag.
