Can I have a number?

I Just finished working on this. P Bass revival, was originally three-tone sunburst purchased in a used music store in 2003 for $100. Refinished and upgraded with a bone nut, Hipshot bridge , NP4a pup. Played with one group last Saturday, this thing sounds as good if not better than most fenders I've heard.

first bass i've owned. still have it and still love it, nevegonna sell it!
a shortscale REVOLVER. modded it with seymour duncan SPB-2s it rocks. it's in my avatar growlin'. anybody have one too?

Hi, guys. I was hoping that you guys could shed some light on a (probably) 15 year old jazz bass from Fernandes. It was the first bass I got and I bought it new, I believe it was around 2000 or 2001. It was a fairly cheap bass, and even though I haven't played it for years now, I am always surprised the overall low weight and nice playability of the neck. It's quite a bass. I have recently taken it apart and I am thinking of changing the pickups and maybe getting it refinished. I have attached a few pictures and I am especially curious about the serial number. Does anyone know which year it was produced?
Anyhow, if anyone is willing to shed light on the matter, feel free to do so.
And also, if anyone should want to buy the bass for some reason I am open to offers.

Can I join in? MIJ Fernandes P/J (I'm still hunting down the exact model name though) S/N 01096.
Planning to put a Badass II and some EMG HZs for...yup you guessed it, metal.

In for answers, I have two just like this but can't find S/Ns on them anywhere. They are red and are the best-playing basses I own.

I took out the neck last week and it says APB-80. I couldn't find the exact same model in the catalogs (Fernandes is really not good with keeping Track of their old, even lawsuit, models). I bet there's a lot of Fernandes models out there that aren't exactly in the catalogs. More info from the internet said the APB-80 was made from 1991-93.

I'd love to see 'em! Also if you have time or if you're about to have your bass setup anyway, take the neck off and see what model it is exactly. It got me that peace of mind I needed. Haha! Usually the 2-digit number would indicate its price, e.g my APB-80 cost ¥80,000 twenty something years ago when it came out.

Fernandes is an underrated brand. I love my bass so much i'd take it with me overseas. Cheers!

Time to add another. This is a Tremor, the body of which was formerly owned and decorated by Blasko (Rob Zombie, then Ozzy since Trujillo left for that other band, haha) during the Hellbilly Deluxe tour. After a broken neck (the bass, not Blasko) and being returned to Fernandes, it was replaced by other Tremors that had been custom-painted for him, as opposed to this one that was stickered by him over the factory green paint.
I used the neck from another Tremor and added the paint on the fret markers, tuners, and trc. I couldn't resist going a little over the top considering its previous stage history and ownership.

Currently set up B/E/A/D through active older EMGs.

......aaaaaand another. This is a Japanese made-in-1978 replica of a 1974 Fender. It's about 98% accurate, too, almost as realistic as the Ric copy I've posted elsewhere in this thread. Correct neck & nut width, '70s pickup spacing, truss rod adjustment at the heel, etc.
Since this photo was taken last week, I've added a Geddy Lee signature bridge, Schaller straplocks, matching relic'd '70s knobs (one of the ones that came with it was a replacement and was grey, not black), and a relic'd "F" neck plate (I'll update with photos Saturday). YES, I did the Fender logo at the headstock, and re-clearcoated it to match the rest of the neck. I'm sure I'll catch some grief for that from some of the purists (both Fender and Fernandes), but the world still turns. If and when I ever get rid of it, it will be disclosed as a Fernandes, and there are details (no serial number on the neckplate, for example) that any serious Fender buyer would be looking for anyway. I did it for fun and to see how it would turn out, and I must say, I'm quite pleased with the result. It's quite convincing.

This thing plays wonderfully, and suits my '70s Jazz g.a.s. just fine. My search is over for the moment.

I once checked out a fernandes p-bass clone at a music shop while vacationing in hawaii and it sounded pretty cool. I myself own a fernandes bass. it's a fernandes gravity 5x. great sounding bass. it's simply the best passive bass I've ever played and owned. it's a keeper.

Okay I've noticed no one is giving out numbers. the last number I've seen is at #57. I figure since wackostu is conspicuously absent from this thread, I will temporarily give out numbers. I've never done this before, but I would assume the members just ask for a number and you give them a number. so here we go.

If you like Fernandes and want a new one, grab one while you can. My inside scoop, straight from the source at the company who owns Fernandes Guitars in the USA, is this: once the remaining U.S. inventory is sold, that's IT. Done. Finito. Fini. The End.

Fernandes Japan will still be around but in verrrry limited numbers, as in, the man who owns the Fernandes company name there will be selling a few instruments every now and then (or not, according to the gloomy forecast by my source two weeks ago).

No wonder that's why fernandes is becoming a little rare to find. it took me a while to find a fernandes gravity 5x and I finally got one from their guitar shop on their website. so it's kinda like aria. a little rare to find. honestly, they should continue their business. they make great sounding instruments. the gravity 5x is by far the best passive bass I ever own. my brother went through the same sorta thing I did when he was looking for a teisco guitar. he had a teisco del ray when we were kids. he eventually found one at some music store in chicago and they were asking for a ridiculous price. they also had a matching del ray bass there too. he was thinking it would be cool if we had a matching set. we did play dean instruments at one point. he had a razorback guitar and I had an ml metalman bass. I originally wanted a dean z metalman, but he insisted on an ml which I eventually bought and receive compliments from it. well anywho, it like you said. if you like fernandes basses, grab one while you can. I took a chance on grabbing one and I've kept it ever since.
