Makes sense. My hex key set (...castoffs) are mis-sized and mis-matched.

So you're thinking it probably is 5 mm, Riis? I noticed that 5.5 mm is sort of a rare bird when it comes to Allen wrench sets. I just ordered two sets of Bondhus Allen wrenches (metric and SAE). They get very good reviews and are made in USA. Despite trying to be careful while adjusting truss rod, the Kobalt hex keys that I've been using seem to have hastened stripping the nut on my Peavey Axcelerator 6. I just ordered a new truss rod nut from LMI. At least it's fixable.

That's correct. I'm using an import set of keys: the case is poorly marked in terms of size designation and the hex keys have no markings at all. Bought 'em off e-bay and complained about the quality and condition upon receipt (plastic case was all smashed up). Seller didn't even argue, they just refunded all my money and said "keep the set".

I managed to snag another APB-5 that I saw on Reverb...paid a little more than the going price for comparable models but there is a provenance that kept things interesting...here's the story:

*This is a true closet queen. Fernandes presented it (...complete with a tweed case) to an artist back in ~1999. That artist was Stu Cook of Credence Clearwater Revival. Other than being pulled from the case on rare occasion, the bass was never played nor gigged and pretty much languished in storage.

*When responding to the ad, I was of the impression I'd be dealing with a third party agent, estate, or something of the sort. Nope...it was the man, himself, and we struck a deal that was favorable on both sides. Not only did her personally ship it, he mailed me a letter to authenticate the tale, a logo'd pick, and the pic attached.

Keep in mind that I learned to play plucking along with my CCR vinyl collection (I'm almost 60) so there's a sentimental value in play. Stu still tours with Credence Clearwater Revisited. Susan and I are hoping to meet up with him in Charles Town W VA this July.

Hello,Fernandes owners,I have a question? I traded for this bass guitar, thinking it was a Fender Precision body? So here is the pictures of the body. I think this is a Fernandes Precision body? It had the older style SX neck? I going to put a Fender MIM neck,on this body. Hopefully it will fit? Any comments,or help would be appreciated.

What's wrong with the existing neck?

Nothing is wrong with the neck, plays great and the bass sounds great. Mostly aggravated, that I thought I was getting a Fender Precision body? I thought the head stock looked different, but it didn't have a decal,on the head stock, and I got confused? I have the neck for sale,in the classifieds. Just want to put a Fender neck,on the body? Mostly just me?

Gotcha. I don't think you'll be gaining much other than to say it's a Fender neck on a Fender body...mismatched as it may be. The Fernandes necks...if that's what it truly is...are pretty durn respectable IMO.

I am sure the Fernandes necks, are okay. I have come to the conclusion, this body is a Fernandes, and wasn't told that by the previous owner. If I sell the bass in the future, full disclosure will be given. Thank you,for you replies. Wanted to know if anyone agreed with me that the body,is Fernandes?

Any markings? I don't have a clue as to the identity of either.

Just got back from a short Japanese tour, and while playing in Sapporo I scored a 1977 MIJ Power Bass. Or should I say a 1977 Fender P bass, because I've owned several 70's fender P basses and this IS one. beautiful neck, ash body, pu growl for days, the whole good thing about those basses. I have read contradicting versions of whether there actually was a lawsuit, but take one look at the "F" in fernandez on the headstock..and tell me whether Fender would have had a suit...

I paged through the posts here, and haven't seen one, though it's in the 1977 catalog on the Fernandez site. Unlike everyone's bass here, the serial # is stamped on the neck below the 20th fret.

Having said all that, I believe I am going to put it up for sale as there's something else that caught my eye in Japan. Take a look in the classifieds tomorrow.

Every one I've seen on TB so far says 'hard puncher'... that is a nice score... : )

Hey there! Have a question! I'm gonna buy a new bass tomorrow. Please tell me about Gravity 5 Deluxe. That one with EMG's and neckthrough. Korean made. How it is builded, longlivety. I need good gigable workhorse for loong time. Can i be sure in that instrument in that case? I dont ask about sound cause... well... it is well known JJ EMG
