Its from the fanned fret post. Someone referred to "legasy" frets. Meaning normal, not fanned frets. Figured why not run with it. Maybe in 10-15 years we will be as useless and outdated as 4 string fenders with 20 frets.

The fret markers are odd, but not too odd that I would call it ugly. I can see some functionality to the body design. The odd cutout on the lower end of the body could be used to rest it on your leg for a seated semi upright position. Much like some guitarists do with the flying V bodies.
