Dont count on those to do anything. Ibanez messed up with some shoddy copy that does not glow long enough.

That (modded) jack doesnt look like it's put together right. There is not supposed to be any spacing between metal and plastic.

Maybe one of those steinberger clamps meant to hack a bass into using single ball strings? There are even those with pairs of set screws. That was key for distributing load over two points and preserving the string. How about wrapping the string one turn around the post and then plugging it...

Yeah, heatshrink against wound steel wire wont do much. Dipping the tip into thin epoxy would make more sense but also not sure if it would stick. Has anyone tried to just bend the string 90 deg after the mounting post? Can it be removed afterwards? (I am still on my factory string set or I...

    NBD: Ibanez EHB 1000S

A thorough non-destructive solution. I used some 4-5mm glow-in-dark stickers from aliexpress (they come in sheets, different sizes available). Used them both on the side and front, they are still sticking around (intended), 6 months in.

That is a solid repair!! But repair is still a repair. Even worse that it is THAT obvious. How much of a resale value you hope to retain? I would not buy that off anyone for 4-500$. Colleagues, please correct me on this but IMO: consider that repair makes it harder to sell it at any price and...

    MXR M281 Thump Bass Preamp

Even though this wont work for most (mine included) micro pedalboards, can this failure be run at 18V at least?? If MXR did not include a charge pump, maybe eng. were sane enough to allow for the increased headroom with 12 or 18 volts. Inside is three TI2272C opamps which has a 4.4-16V range...

Guyker knob caps from Ali. Pleasant to the eye, good finish. They keep getting some gray-ish residue even though I have oiled them once or twice. Had to (hand)drill single caps to clear out less than a millimeter of material, they were really tight fitting. Maybe biggest peeve is that there is...

Sorry that I keep on about neutrik jack but I just found photos that I've prepared for you this summer. original neutrik - too stiff, ballpoint pen - too wide cut spring I've used - could be a bit longer posterity reserve When I am removing it, I twist the jack so that the set screw is...

But to be specific, it is true, you are not ruining the jack permanently. Just making it very loose.

Sorry, there have been posts about this earlier so I assumed it's common knowledge. The big red tab and small red tab are what is mehanically holding the jack inside. Yes, there is some grip because of the friciton from three contacts tins but the jack itself is not designed to rely on them...

I would advise against removing the red tab but people seem persistent on ruining their jacks. I got my bass b-stock from Thomann, with all tools and paper. Please do your homework and diss Ibanez for real reasons.

Just order a set or two from aliexpress. I did that and both fit well, both work fine. Diffference: - one set has sharp edges on the washers and the other is a bit rounded (should help with press fitting) - sharp edge's washer had a larger hole on the standing side than the washer on rounded...

Thanks for the spec of the thust bearing. It made so easy to find and get a set from Ali for peanuts. Lubed them up with graphite oil and used both shart and the other washer. Why? You are wrong, a bag with internal length of 92cm is not easy to find. Actually my car is setting the outside limit to 97.5mm max. Maybe I should have mentioned that I am searching for a bag that fits the short scale bass, not the one that can hold it. Most guitar bags are 104-107cm of internal...

The bag I got for my 1505-S is Ritter 3/4 for electric and lengthwise it fits with a bit of a slack (might even hold SMS?). New Headless Dingwall!

I would love to be a fly on the wall of r&d for all headless basses headstock solving. Why almost noone makes a solution that goes trough neck is really intriguing. The 90° bend seems quite important too, which Ibanez seems to have missed somehow. Cant wait to hear how efigy headstock works...

I am currently on page 284, almost read trough all of this but have to ask before I forget: Did anyone consider cutting away the part of the wood that obstructs access to tuners? Maybe not all the way, maybe all of it, but it would make finger access slightly easier (especially when sweaty...

    New Headless Dingwall!

The body is going to be more heavy because of the extra thickness, which is not a design choice but imposed by tuners instead. Hence the thinning out on the neck side. Those tuners seem like they have a really short travel, could be "bottoming out" frequently (during setup). The headstock...

Hanging a Headless Ibanez on the Wall

⭐🤩 Jokes aside, I am pondering about a piece of wood that is to cover the space from nut to the bottom row (hugging from below) of string posts. And make it protrude on the side just enough to fit those hangers (Normal headstock width?). It would not be as removeable as a chopstick or a wrench...

    wall-mounting a headless instrument

Chopstick works fine, has enough strength. Over that span and with two string posts in between seems like its even better weight distribution. wall-mounting a headless instrument

All is hanging on the E&D string anchors. It is a hex wrench that came woth the bass (used on truss), thin enough not to touch the strings. I also like to imagine that Hex key is pushing those hanger posts to distribute some weight to the sides. K&M has these spring loaded and (wit the wide...
