I Want to Get (Synthy) Fatter

MXR Bass Octave Deluxe, the Aguilar Octamizer and/or DOD Meatbox clones (the Mantic Hulk, for example) are all good options. Other similar options are COG T-16, Malekko Downer, Broughton Audio Synth Voice Deluxe. I've tried all of this and I prefer T-16. But they all can sounds pretty similar...

    Synth pedal for non-weird tones?

This is one of the best options, if you can make editor work and adjust the sounds to your liking. I had it for years and liked it while the editor worked. At some point I couldn't make editor work anymore either on mac or windows. Lost all my sounds after the update and couldn't set them back...

    Synth pedal for non-weird tones?

I've tried probably every synth pedal out there and what I currently use is either synths on HX Stomp or combination of octave/dirt/filter. With some of those dedicated bass synths I was either getting too many tracking issues or not cutting through the mix. If the mix is busy enough, I can't...

    Iron Ether Appreciation Society

I've got one as well. It sounds good in this particular combination. I've tried dr scientist dusk instead of xd and I can see why xd and dubterrenea optimized to work together . On dubterrenea side I prefer only one voice, with two voices there's less clarity to my taste. not digging the octave...

    Best Compact ALL-in-ONE? (midi content) HX-Stomp H9

I would say H9 has more effects that you can't do easily with other devices. And you have a good set of factory presets. I was mainly using it to do something unusual, for instance imitate guitar sound. I find that for traditional bass playing it's less useful, as many preset would cut low...

Are you happy with your Helix HX Stomp cab sims?

I was not impressed with amp/cab simulation on Line 6 devices either. I think it's a matter of taste. Also it depends which style of music you play. I ended up not using any amp/cab sims and now happy with avalon u5 + power amp + real cab. :)

    Best Compact ALL-in-ONE? (midi content) HX-Stomp H9

I have both pedals on my board. I can only say that those are two different things. It's not possible to say which one is better, unless you can explain in more details what is your exact need. I have a feeling that H9 has more original content, however it's much more useful on guitar/synth in...

    Ring mod question

Wow, thanks a lot! Really nice explanation. Unfortunately we don’t have ring mods in few music shops that we’ve got in here, but I think I’ll get one from thomann with my next order and return it within 30 days if I don’t like it. Pitchfactor is also on my list.

    Ring mod question

Recently I've started looking into ring mods. And many of them (or their settings) seem too extreme for my taste. YouTube - EHX Ring Thing on bass - I think I would like to get ring mod that would give me something similar to the setting 9 of this video, which starts at 4:20. Synthy, robotic...

Source Audio Flanger - Opinions Please

I'm interested in that "flying" type of sound. YouTube - Electro-Harmonix Neo Mistress-NAMM 2011 - sound this video starts with. Also would be nice to hear something played with a pick.

    Pedal Power

Hi! I’m planning to buy one of the pedaltrain pedal boards, because pedal board that I currently have is a mess. One of the main reasons why I’m getting pedaltrain is that you can run all the cables underneath. And now I have to solve powering issue. Currently I use one spot + daisy chain. But...

    New passive jazz bass

Hi there! I'm planning to buy passive jazz bass. I play rock, similar to muse, placebo, coldplay. It's a 3-piece band, but with a lot of dirt pedals, so I need bass that really cuts through. I play alot with the pick and I'm looking for that punchy, growling bass sound. My price range is +/-...

Clover, not enough low end for rock?

I’ve also checked all clover videos on youtube that I could find and they all sound pretty much similar to my sound.

Clover, not enough low end for rock?

One of the problems I had during the last studio session, I was recording through Eden head and as a result we had to add a lot of low end in order to normalize the sound. So far I was blaming Eden head, but it seems to me that this bass never has enough of the low end wherever I play.

Clover, not enough low end for rock?

Recently I’ve been struggling getting enough low end from my Clover Apeiron H.5 Especially our guitar player was complaining. Previously when I played funk, this wasn’t an issue, as there were no heavy guitars involved. But now as I’m in a muse type rock band I sound somewhere in a mid range in...

    PJ bass with J electronics

Not necessarily jazz bass body. But Jazz bass electronics. Because you can also buy bass with pj pickups and p electronics which I don't like. Reggie Hamilton is an option. Looks like Fender Japan makes several basses of that type.

    PJ bass with J electronics

I'm thinking to replace my Clover, as I stopped playing funk and started playing rock. And for a last few days I was looking at all kind of basses and I think the most interesting what I've found so far is a jazz bass with PJ pick-ups. For instance Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass. What are other...

    Does such a pedal exist?

Thanks for the hint. I also was looking for something like this (modulation effects processor with presets), but have never considered this option.

    Does such a pedal exist?

I was thinking something like a filter pedal that would also have like a "wave" similar to what flanger or phaser pedals do. But unlike flanger pedals, I want this "wave" to start every time I hit the string. I was thinking that maybe pigtronix envelope phaser can do something similar, but I...

    Neo Mistress

I've been checking this video - and looks like first settings that he uses is exactly what I need. This flying space-like sound. At this point I use old BF-2, but the switch is broken, so I'm looking to replace the pedal. Does anyone know if neo mistress is good for bass? or any other pedal...

    M9/M13 or else

Hi there! Recently my pedal board was downsized to Multiwave Bass Distortion Pro, BF-2 and MXR Bass Auto-Q. I always thought that I like analogue sound, but I was wrong. My Distortion Pro kicks asses. It sounds perfect for the music I play and I really like pedals with presets. So I thought...

Midi on Source Audio Bass Distortion Pro

I'm sorry guys, but Bass Big Muff Sucks

Yeah, I guess gated fuzz is what I really like. I should've do more research before buying muff. At least I know it's not my thing, that's good experience anyway.

I'm sorry guys, but Bass Big Muff Sucks

Well, I have 2 x Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler, it has low end issue, but still it is nothing like that. When you don't play it, it's dead quiet nad when you play it, it gives a lot of effect, especially old version. So I don't agree with that.

I'm sorry guys, but Bass Big Muff Sucks

Have to take it back. There's less noise in passive mode. I just checked it once again with the different amp. So then my bass doesn't like the muff I guess?

I'm sorry guys, but Bass Big Muff Sucks

I use Ibanez power supply, I think there's no problem with it. I'm starting heaving too much noise with volume and sustain over 1 o'clock and especially if tone is 9 o'clock, which I like most. If tone is between 3 and 6 o'clock and volume and sustain below 1 it's fine, but I don't like the...

I'm sorry guys, but Bass Big Muff Sucks

How come it is so noisy? Maybe mine is broken or something, I don't know. Almost on all settings I have an amount of noise when pedal is on. While playing it's ok, because you can't hear it, but if you play with pauses or start song, this noise really comes up and make this pedal not usable. I...

    For blending experts

So far my choice is Wounded Paw Super Blender. I'm still hesitating to buy it due to price, shipping to my place is CAD50.00. But I guess I'll place an order by the end of the month. I really like the idea blending several fuzzes in parallel and maybe adding envelope filter or phaser or maybe...

    Yamaha-type basses

Which pedal is the most important purchase?

I would most probably go for a markbass synth, second place would be shared between SFT and Source Audio stuff. In fact I was looking to buy a synth pedal and ended up getting Source Audio Bass Distortion Pro as it makes synthy sounds as well.
