    Last gig with an amp!

Well said!! As I mentioned above, it has been quite interesting to read the different viewpoints and their justifications. I’ll stand by my last post that in my opinion, IEMs CAN offer rewards if the investment is made to properly implement them. They don’t fit every circumstance and I can...

    Last gig with an amp!

It’s been really interesting reading the replies to this post! As expected, lots of different opinions. It all depends on your individual situations. We started with a Mackie mixer, a roll around rack with 3 power amps and power conditioners, passive 18” subs, passive mains with dual or...

That’s actually good to hear. Means there’ll be folks around to my ton of stuff when I’m ready to unload it!! :)

We are running 2 LD Systems Maui 28 speaker arrays. Handles all the venues we’re booked in.

    Last gig with an amp!

I get it, different strokes for different folks. The technology today in linear array systems is amazing! I’m even hearing stuff in our break music that I never heard before in our old system. To me, it’s all about the FOH mix and giving the person running it all the flexibility they need to...

    Last gig with an amp!

Yes! I have the best mix in my IEMs that I control using Mixing Station on my iPhone. Lead vocals, guitar vocals, guitar, bass, and 8 channels off of the drum kit. Best part is that the volume can be set to suit me. I have complete trust in the person out front running FOH from a tablet.

I know he still does pitch bend harmonics in his leads. Not sure about feedback. Maybe I haven’t missed it because it’s not part of our current set list. He’s running a Helix system that’s extremely versatile. :bassist:

    Last gig with an amp!

It’s a 2017 4003W. Walnut body, maple neck. Mods are a Nordstrand “Nordenbocker” humbucker in the neck position. Stronger output and eliminates the 60hz hum. Also, a bridge pickup surround that has a thumb rest. All stock otherwise including Rickenbacker strings. Weighs about 9lbs. :)

:) We have someone out front running the tablet for the PA FOH mix. She does an awesome job!

    Last gig with an amp!

So the popular adage goes with age comes lighter gear. I turn 65 next month, what is wrong with me? I took this out last weekend. It was a beautiful outdoor gig. I did it partly to prove to myself that I could still load and unload it. It was awesome! We recently upgraded our PA from...

    Club Sandberg (part 2)

IMO, it’s closest to a Jazz in both active and passive. Leaning towards modern. The difference in the humbucker coil split is very discernible. In humbucker mode it naturally leans more towards a Stingray adding more low end and punch. In single coil mode, more toward a Jazz. I find the...

    Club Sandberg (part 2)

Picked this beauty up last week at Bass Central and played my first gig with it last night. It’s a TM-4 California SuperLight. Weighs in at 6.4lbs. As for for tone, I’d put it in the middle. Fender P and Jazz basses on one side, my Ric, MM Stingrays, Spectors on the other side. It was warm...

    NBD - Sandberg!

I did put Dunlop strap lock buttons on the bass. The original screws were 2x the length of the screws that come with the Dunlop strap locks. The screw heads were also slightly larger than the holes in the Dunlops. Fixed that with a bench grinder. :) The bass hangs fine using a 3” D’Addario...

    NBD - Sandberg!

    1. I A/B'd the Sandberg bridge humbucker soloed with my MM Stingray 4HH bridge humbucker. The MM was a little more rounded and the Sandberg seemed a touch more mid-centric. Equal in output and both very useable. 2. With the Sandberg bridge humbucker split to single coil, it sounds very close...

Thanks! It does have a switch that puts the bridge humbucker to a single coil. Very much like a traditional jazz in that configuration.

Yes, it is textured such that you can feel it. The finish seems to be a thin nitrocellulose.

Yes. From what I’ve read so far, the lightweights are usually under 7lbs. The regular ones go around 8lbs or so.

    NBD - Sandberg!

I’ve been on a quest to find a good light weight bass. I have several basses, Rick’s, Fenders, Spectors and Music Mans, that all weigh around 8 pounds or so. My favorite bass tone-wise is a Stingray 4HH that weighs 10.8lbs! :bored: The quest ended today! I found this Sandberg TM-4...

    Ampeg BA-210 Upgrade

A little bit of both. I didn’t expect a big volume increase, although it did slightly. The main change was no breakup as you go upwards in volume. Before, with the volume up around 4 or 5 it would start to break up. Now, it holds tight with tons of low end. It was 285 watts into the 16 ohm...

    Ampeg BA-210 Upgrade

Okay, I have an Ampeg BA-210V2 that I wanted to add a little more grunt to. I know the best way to do that is to add an 8 ohm extension cab. That gets the full 450 watts out of the combo. This is primarily a smaller venue indoor amp and I always have PA support. I have a room full of cabs...

810 cabinet on its side. Any reason?

So you don’t have to heave an 85 pound head 5 feet in the air to put it on top? :)

    Show your tidy pedalboard!

Yep! I find both the chorus and flanger effects to be very useable in live situations. The eq section is handy. It’s nice to engage an effect and not have the low end drop out on you.
