Pulled the preamp out of my Yamaha BB615 because I didn't like it. Converted it to passive with a volume+tone+pickup switch. Much better now.
Before and after pics. Plugged the extra pot holes with some car trim push pin things. Fit perfectly.
This has been my solution. Move the strap button. I think manufacturers like to put the button at the center because aesthetically that's where it looks like it belongs, but that's not always the best for balance. I solved the neck dive on my Thunderbird by relocating both strap buttons.
Currently shopping for an acoustic-electric bass for acoustic duo gigs. Would like to stay under the $500 mark. Anybody have an opinion on Ibanez A/E basses? I'm looking at these two:

I put a zero-mod thumbrest on my Ray34. It was a little too tall for my liking so I filed it down to be about the same height as the pickup. Now it's perfect for me.
