$1 in jukebox

I was at a little neighborhood dive bar the other night. Me and the wife go once a week or so mainly to play pool and they have great burgers, with a Reuben special on Thursday.

Drunk floozie put a dollar in the jukebox and we got a couple Mettalica tunes off the black album and the Scorpions tune the Zoo. We might have missed the ACDC. I think she hit the "pissed off two thirds the bar" benchmark. Mostly because she sang, loud and proud. Her own personal Karaoke. A little wobbly on pitch and footwork.

I should have taken some video.

Reasons this defies logic:

1.) I'm in a bar with a jukebox. > I usually date women, not machines.

2.) I reach down to put money in the slot. > And not get my face slapped or have a drink thrown at it.

3.) I get to choose the tunes I paid for. > That's a first!

4.) $1.00 buys four tunes. > Not around here, at least not in this century.

Dead. > I'd play dead because this is just a silly dream and I only have another ten minutes before the alarm goes off and I have to get up and go to work.

A naive question, perhaps, but is there someone here that actually knows the business, and can tell me if the bar owner can actually call shots on the parameters of the digital library loaded into the machines(I assume those are just giant iPods, essentially)or do they just take what’s given to them?
