I could never afford a centerfold girl. I ended up with one a little more old school, but MIA quality.

What is your budget? For a fraction of the price, you can get an extremely well-built, and just as good sounding bass from a number of builders (Clement is my favorite-I compare the sound and vibe of my Clement to a Fodera all the time).

Or you could be a poser who wants to show off to folks who don't know any better. Those fakes may almost look the part, but they will NEVER play like the real thing.

does a better looking bass or a bass that looks like brand X make you play or sound better . ? NO

i've had many nicer basses ... i've made note of what i liked about them and now i mod mine with the preferred parts so it is to my liking ... some Warmoth wood bits , Barts , Nords , quality passive parts , lite tuners , flexible bridge ... i could not give i flying crap what anyone thinks my bass should look like or whom it should be made by .!

i Do enjoy the compliments when other good players pick up my basses/guitars and say " you've worked on this haven't you ?! " .. take Pride in what You can do , not 'wanna be ' type crapola !!

IMHO, I have heard the OP play, and he is a VERY good player. That said, my advice is that you would not sound as good playing one of those copies, although I can't believe you wouldn't sound better playing a Fodera. Find something that SOUNDS good, you don't need to worry about image. If someday you get one, you'll find Fodera owners don't care about image either. Best of luck to you.

This has been explained in other fake/replica/counterfeit/tribute/knock-off threads before. To try and explain why further is useless if you haven't understood why us "anti-counterfeit bass" guys feel the way we do by now. I care because these pieces of **** represent thievery, plain and simple. No, I don't work for Fodera, nor do I own a Fodera. I respect what they've built in their company, product and reputation. Every fake/replica/counterfeit/tribute/knock-off piece of **** coming out of China insults Fodera's efforts.

Maybe you'd feel differently is someone in China was copying your hard work? And it's always the same arguments from the pro-counterfiet folks:

"But...But...No one who's gonna buy a real Fodera would by one of these anyway!"

"But...But...People do it with Fender!"

Same tired comparisons and excuses. And their totally irrelevant.

Crime hurts everyone. If you don't call it out, it spreads and pretty soon *your* designs/ideas/products are the ones being stolen.

Most crimes don't personally hurt any one of us. If we want to maintain a sense of social responsibility, we care when crimes hurt others. My livelihood depends on intellectual property laws. I have had my stuff stolen by foreign entities. I care when these are violated even when I'm not directly affected.
