I have a question in regards to accounting. If I am able to score a much better deal than retail pricing for things like truss rods, etc., should I tally up my actual cost, or should I include the costs I actually pay. How would I handle a situation where I should not be disclosing said prices?

I say use the actual price you pay. Part of building a bass, IMHO, is scoring great deals on the parts.

Word! If I do that I am going to have to use the honor system as disclosing the actual prices may be a bit sketchy in my opinion. I want to keep things on the up and up and would rather err on the safe side of things.

If you are getting wholesale pricing I doubt anyone would have a problem with that

That's the situation. I am not sure the company want me to advertise their wholesale/dealer pricing. I am new to that aspect and want to do the right thing.

If it was me I would list everything that's you paid a standard price and things that are at the dealer price I would lump them together with one price so your not saying how much each thing cost but your still listing it.

I am afraid that I will have to withdraw from this build challenge. I just don't have the time to work on it, and a few more important builds have come up. I don't see any free time clearing up until well after August.

I've just read through this thread. It's been interesting to me to see how many people were against it initially, and now it's become one of the best reasons to come to this particular forum on Talkbass. I've seen some really incredibly creative stuff in terms of this, and the only thing I'm not enjoying is that I'm not participating. You guys rock!

Also, if I'd built my bass in the states it would cost under $100. Due to the fact that some of the parts I bought are more expensive in the UK, it's £70, $110. Does that mean I'm excluded?

Cool actually it's significantly less than that anyway, as it's for my final A-level project so I get about half back from college anyway!
