$1000 to spend on a cab

I'd buy 2 used Ampeg SVT 410HE's and stack 'em. You can get them inexpensively. Modular fridge, probably leave you with $400 left over for the bar. Source: I use this rig and it's fantastic.

I use this cab setup myself, with either an SVT-CL (2001 USA), or more recently, a GK 1001RB-II. Here's mine -

Had an Ampeg 810E (circa '91) that went toast in early '99 (club fire, it happens!), and these 410HEN cabs replaced it, one at a time. There is a lot of weight in this pic, but the sound is incredible. Not to mention, the speaker height is greater, about 6-8" over an 810 (with casters), IIRC. If you can handle hauling this rig around, I highly recommend it.​

I am at a gig right now with those cabs and a svt 6 pro. The weight doesn't an that bad for some reason!

Can those barefaced cabinets go head to head with a heavy duty ampeg svt rig volume wise? I do remember seeing that svt 4x10 rig live and it does thump. I had never heard of barefaced before and find the light weight of the cabinets very intriguing. They don't look that aesthetically pleasing to me but if the tone and power is right I can put up with a weird looking cabinet haha.

unfortunately used 8x10s go for about 400 bucks so I'd get 2 of them for 800 and spend the other 200 on gas n drugs lol. or maybe a used pedal or 3

Don't worry about running "only" 250 watts. Doubling watts only gives you a 3 decibel boost. Barely noticeable. The Barefaced 410 with a TH500 will be plenty loud! It should be approximately equivalent to an SVT + 810 cab.

except BF high passes one side of the 10's so way more of the off axis audience gets the sweet tone instead of wool. And the real tube thing is a real thing but hardly anyone but the player notices.

BF does trad looking multiple 10 cabs with half full range, rest lows only for good dispersion, blowing away trad multi ten boxes.

So I'm (currently) thinking a Barefaced Four10 @ 8ohm with a TC Electronics 210 8ohm. It will break my budget some but not by much. I can't bring myself to get only the Four 10 (2 or 8ohm only) and run the TH500 at 250 watts.

I'm not sure that the TC will bring anything to the party. I'd try the amp and 410 first to see if you actually need any extra speaker power.

This. And I wouldn't mix cabinets, there's no way of knowing if they'll sound good together. They might, but it's just as likely that they won't. I'd just get another barefaced if needed. I really disliked the sound of the TC cabs I've played so I may be biased.

I posted a NCD thread but I wanted to thank you guys for all the great input and let you know that I settled on a used Berg NV610 from another TBer. Very happy with it so far.

Audiokinesis H1505. Best investment you'll make for your dollar, back, and performance. End of story.

This is a fantastic cab, and ridiculously loud for a 115. For me, it's between this and Mike's MAS 112. I've played a bunch of cabs - including Berg, and these two are tops and right in your price range.

I'll chime in highly recommending the Hathor 1505 as well. This cabinet is nothing short of amazing. It weighs 36 lb. and punches FAR above its weight. Switchable mids and highs, 4/8 ohm operation... Goes from neutralish Hi-fi voicing to full on OD-friendly growl with the switches. And ridiculously loud... A true one-cab solution!

I have never heard these cabs but kudos to Barefaced for this acoustic issue being addressed. I think most players who are fond of traditional 410 design hear the sound right in front of the cab and think that is what the audience is hearing. When in fact it is not. Maybe in one spot - but walk 10ft over and...no.

With the current 12" drivers out there, a vertical 212 (or 312 or 412) makes more sense, to me, than a 410. Now a vertical 210 times 2, that I could go for.

By 'they' do you mean Barefaced and the Two10, Four10, Six10, Eight10 models? If so, nothing difficult about miking the cab - just point the mic at any of the left hand ('b' side of the badge) speakers.

+1 for Barefaced. It will blow away any other cab out there. lightweight and you need less BF drivers to get the equivalent sound and power of other cabs.
