-Install Pickup cover
-Seymour duncan SSB4 installed on neck position

Now sounds with definition and presence. I highly recommend a pickups upgrade;)

Interesting... Some sound clips would be great!

I've got a Bartolini CX at the neck on my TP-12 34" which sounds deeper and more natural than the stock pickup. Wouldn't mind to try some others like Alumitone, SGD, or maybe a Q-tuner. But before that it needs some fret leveling....

How are you planning on doing the neck-drilling holes in the existing for the extra tuners or getting an aftermarket neck like warmoth?

Drill holes in the existing headstock. I'll probably have to plug the holes and switch to some smaller tuners (good, I don't like the clover tuners anyway), but there's certainly enough room on the headstock to do a 4x4.

The original idea was a bigger upgrade. Replace tuners, nut, fret leveling, etc. But the bass construction isn´t good enough to spend more money on it. I prefer save money and buy Hamer acoustic.

Is your TP-12 the 34" model? Do you know which version?

In addition to the TP-12, I have a Hamer Chaparral B12L. I've swapped out the original harsh-sounding EMGs for Lane Poors and had Sheldon Dingwall widen the string spacing slightly, while another luthier leveled the frets, making this bass much easier to navigate than the Waterstone. While it is a bit of a bear to play, the TP-12 does have a big, bassy, tone which the Hamer cannot match. The Hamer is more "chimey", IMO. As I recall, I had to glue and file the nut on the Waterstone in order to make it playable.

Here's a pic taken before I added the Bartolini CX in the neck position:

We(an old band of mine) opened for King's X a few times back in the 90s, Dug would always tell me it's got to be a trip for the audience to see a show where both bass players are lefties playing 12-strings, gotta be a rarity. Yep.
