1200W Forte HP

In my experience so far, the punch button is where it's at! Adds some serious balls to your tone without being too deep or muddy in any way.

I'm sure that lots of folks are going to love the Punch button, and I may be in the minority, but I strongly prefer the tone/feel without Punch engaged. Good to have options, though!

So now that you all have had some time with it and maybe this has already been asked but if I’m a happy Forte owner and Super Bassman owner now, can I sell both and get the HP and not miss a thing (and only benefit)?

Well, wait for the HP’s carrying bag to come out first! Love the amp but am transporting in a backpack for now which is not ideal.

Having spent more time with my HP settings...

• LPF set to 2 kHz, and engage the bright button at 2 kHz (bumping up at the top of the cut-off slope)—I find adds a bit more resonance, presence/character to the top end without any clank.

Btw, the HP features/tone-controls complement my Sadowsky preamps nicely...really happy with this head!

I can’t speak to exact frequency points and such as I don’t own one(yet), but I took a Forte HP for a spin through a HDN 2x12 at Chicago Music Exchange recently and absolutely loved it. I used an array of Fender basses to test it out and loved the results with each.
My favorite setting seemed to be almost flat across the EQ, with a slight bass boost, punch engaged, and a slight presence of the filters. This seemed like an ideal baseline for my playing, where a little overdrive or scoop could be summoned for quick changes and the overall tone and feel of the amp wouldn’t change too dramatically. Great Amp!

kevk, this post must’ve sunk into my subconscious because I tried it today with the drive at about 12 o’clock and was rewarded with some seriously snarling bass tone with none of the artifacts that should’ve gone along with it. VLPF for the win....again!

Who has compared the Forte HP to the Forte? I realize the front end is largely the same, but with the different Power supply, bright, punch and VLPF / VLHF features, it seems like the Forte HP would have more 'personality' and tone shaping?

Would the Forte HP be way overkill when used for smaller gigs with just a Reference 210?

I don’t think it would be overkill. I tried the HP through a Ref combo (in the shop) and it was glorious. At home I have HDNs.

I’ve seen pics of some of your gear on various gigs and my bet is you’d really enjoy the HP, its extra headroom, and features like the punch button etc

I have generally used larger power amp with bass cabs due to headroom. IMO it would not be overkill. Few actually need the volume offered but I think all of us can appreciate the note immediacy, note heft, headroom, drive circuit, and adjustable filters.

Can I use the Forte to push the HDN410 as well as the HDN212 at the same time? I probably can right?
The Forte HP will do 2 ohms. Not sure what sound conflicts there may exist using those two cabs, one may be dominant, either of which which may or may not be a good thing.
