1200W Forte HP

Man I played a new outdoor stage last night with the db751 --> 1 NV212t. The stage was long and thin, where we were all basically stuck right in front of our amps with nowhere to go. Gotta say, in that format, the db751 into the NV212t sounded just absolutely incredible, mostly due to how isolated the rig sounded while crammed in front of it. The NV212t just seems to be getting creamier with every gig, and the db751 just sounds fantastic through it. It totally mellows out the overly deep 751. It's almost like the cabinet is a natural HPF for that head. If I had to find something to criticize that I'm really hopeful the HP will do better, it could only be the unavoidable overly mellow highs of the db751. My dream amp would have the heft and depth of the 751, but with more beautiful singing highs in the 2-7 kHz range, sorta akin to GK rb's, or something like that. Here's to really hoping the HP is something like that! Comments from those of you who have played one are welcome as I continue to wait.

Well, on that note, I took the HP to Richmond a few weeks ago for an in store demo at Sam Ash. I was going over all the controls and myriad of tone options available and he said, “Wait, this amp can sound like my SVT or my 800RB!” That and anything in between.

I kinda want it to sound like both. That tubey smooth slightly overdriven low end with highs that sing more than an SVT. Sounds like I can get that with the drive knob around 9 o'clock, the bright switch engaged at that 2k setting, and maybe a little boost of the low eq knob. Thats how I envision using this thing in my mind's eye. And dial in some HPF for a boomy room.

Those are my go to settings. That or even the drive all the way down at 7 am gives a nice, smooth purr much like a soft clip OD. Once the drive gets up around 10-11 o’clock (considering your gain is set correctly) is when things go from mild to wild.

The bright switch at 2k sometimes gets an eyebrow raised or two until you hear it. It’s an unconventional spot but really brings a lot of basses alive and lets them ping in the mix without totally destroying it. Plus, you always have a more conventional bright setting (7k) if you choose.

Anyone here have experience with both the B amp and the Forte HP? I've finally settled on getting one of these as the amp to go with the Barefaced (BB2 or BT2) I'm going to order. I love that these amps have HPF LPF and compression built right in. I'm not one to get nervous around screens either so the B | amps menus are enticing. Aesthetics wise the Forte HP wins. Sexiest amp I've seen in a while, gives me a high end motorcycle kind of vibe. I'm not sure about the 800W vs 1200W debate, has anyone been in a situation where the B | amp couldn't keep up and the Forte HP may have been able?

Not me... but I've always taken enough cab. I'm not the type who'll take a single 112 cab to a rock gig. :woot:
Doubt I've ever gone past 1/3 power on the B|Amp. :bassist:

Are any former Crest CA-9 owners getting a Forte HP? I'd love to hear your impressions as well as how it compared to the current Forte. I own the Forte and love it, but still miss the heft I get with my Super Bassman and used to get with my CA-9.

I still have several CA-9's (and an SB300 on the way), so I will try and give them all a whirl at some point...

Does anyone know yet whether the HPs will have a carrying bag like the regular Forte?

Looks like mine might get to San Diego on Friday. But I’ll have it shipped from there so won’t be on the first wave with you all. Have a fun weekend with your new amps!! (Jealous, yup)

There is a carrying bag, but apparently production has been delayed 2 months according to Holly. Oh well! At least the amps are here!
