Got a notice that delivery has been pushed back to around the end of March for the new A12 series as opposed to the originally projected end of February timeline. I am not unduly bothered by it though as I understand that they may have teething problems getting the first processes ironed out. My Quads will continue to get me through the gigs in March before the season really opens up in April.
So I got my v6 stages in the mail yesterday. After a few hours of listening, I am pleased with the IEMs overall. The fit is really comfortable and there is no pain when I use them. I am still getting used to the sound signature, as they are VERY different from any headphones i've ever heard. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just way different than what i'm used to.
If I could describe it, I would say the bottom is end heavy, thick, and warm sounding. The low-mid is there as well, and not boomy at all, just strong and present. The mid range is very smooth, like i've never heard before. To my ears, it sounds like there's a bump in the 300-600hz range. The rest of the midrange is represented well, and is extremely smooth sounding, like melted buttah. The high end is not nearly as present as most headphones i've heard, and I dare say, most speakers i've heard. I honestly can't believe anyone would say the treble is "hot". I think treble rolls off just a little too early.
The sound stage is very wide indeed, and the instrument separation is nothing short of awesome. I've never heard such clarity in headphones.
Here's the thing though, I could listen to these things for HOURS without having any fatigue. The sound is so warm and pleasing, because the low-mid range isn't boomy, and the treble isn't shrill, it just makes for pleasant listening for long periods of time. I am looking forward to continued listening and re-training my ears to get used to this sound signature.
I've been using Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro closed-back headphones for like 4 years. In comparison, the DT770's sound cheap, with a huge lack of the bottom end of the midrange (300-800hz), and a hugely aggressive shelf of treble (3k-20k). The treble seems very shrill in comparison. So you could see why it's a big adjustment for me. I used to think the clarity in my DT770's was really good, but it's nowhere near as good as the V6's.
They look really cool as well, really high quality build from the looks of them. The cord is smaller in diameter than I thought, which is a good thing. I am really glad I got the 6' cords as well, since I only have about a foot of slack when I am listening with my cell phone in my pocket. I will post pictures another time.

Awesome! Wait until you get them burned in...they'll really open up for you! Oh, and pics!
That's what I noticed. I just flew from NYC to Vancouver to head to Whistler and had them in for the whole flight (~5hrs) with no problem, discomfort or whatever at all. Plane seemed downright loud when I did take them out. Although note to self - when using for the in-flight entertainment system, check the volume first. No limiter - Ouch.
Picked up mine yesterday. Fit is spot on. Finish is acceptable. Around the openings of the canal port, plug receptacles, and a sharp angle or two the finish is a little chalky. They're going inside my ear so I really don't need a perfect finish. However, for the money the finish could be just a scoach better. Ill report back after a few days with my thoughts on the sound.

My quads were the same on the tips, but I put that down to the final grinding/polishing of the fit, or... that's how the ends are (first set of customs I've owned, so idk)... hasn't hurt performance or my liking them.. . stupid, silly amounts of bass (if needed).
I love wearing mine for personal listening - Zero fatigue after hours of listening!
These monitors are really efficient, so it doesn't take much volume to drive them hard and cause some pain. I recommend connecting them and starting the audio before you insert them in your ears. Also, some audio sources will send a pulse when you connect them - I recommend you connect before you insert them into your ears for the same reason as stated above.
Good call on the brown, those look great! The sound port exits on mine are not smooth looking, but they do a grinding operation to open them up and make sure there is no blockage before they install the driver assembly. I would wager they opt not to buff those areas so that nothing gets into the sound ports, since buffing happens after assembly. It would suck to have a shiny looking sound port that was full of buffing compound and fuzzies.
Yah, thats kinda what I figured. That's why I'm not concerned about it. I dig the brown. The orange sparkle I was thinking about wasn't availed when I decided to place the order. I was stuck between the brown and orange. The orange prob wouldn't hve shown the finish blemishes nearly as bad as the brown. Nonetheless, te brown sparkle does look pretty cool.

and FWIW - my "clear" cable turned [pretty much] bright green after about a year of oxidization.. at least from the ears on down about 2 feet or so... has NOT affected audio in any way.. just looks.
I recently replaced the clear cable with the new "beige" cable...
I did not order mine with recessed sockets, so it was an easy swap.

Too "ostentatious" for my tastes.. but VERY nice none the less. Let us know what you think of them once you've had a chance to try them out.

That's a 35 mile drive for me...
Practice last night sounded great as usual through my quads, and I get to sub on Sunday with them again. My band mix is much better than my church mix, but I have direct control of my band mix (EQ, compression, panning, etc).
I'm in with a pair of Quads I got a couple years back. Simply awesome...the lows in these never ceases to amaze me as to just how deep they can reach.
Looking at mine now, looks like I have a similar thing on the tips, but to be honest, the ports are going into the darkest depths, so I don't see them other than when I break out the "cheese fork". Don't feel it at all.

Yup, sound level is waaaay down. Like way down and just obscene amounts of clarity amongst the instruments. And I definitely learned the volume lesson of "insert last" the hard way.
