2. i'm getting some high pitched squeal when i move around. is this normal? i thought one of the advantages of wireless was the ability to move around :) i don't think it's signal strength related, but it does seem to be better when line of sight is clear between receiver and transmitter.

Most transmitters have a left/right signal. You either need to have your bass on both channels, or you need to set up your G3 to operate on Mono. For me, my M2 system controls stereo/mono on the receiver via dip switches. Take a look at your manual and I'm sure you'll sort it out. As far as the squeal goes, turn your transmitter off and then turn your receiver on. If you get an RF signal, you are getting interference from another source. If that doesn't solve it, it could just be the location you're using it. Also, look at your manual and see if there is a squelch control.

Make sure you do the following on your G3.
Xmitter:
Set xmitter to MONO (based on your post above) - assuming only one input, or summed it 2?
Adjust your Input Sensitivity on the transmitter down from 0db (default) to -12dB or lower.. depending on the signal level going into the xmitter. I think mine is set to -18dB (not in front of it).

Rcvr:
Scan for an open channel using your receiver... read OM on how to do that.. then sync to amitter.
Set Pilot Tone on..
Set mode to MONO
Adjust the limiter to taste..I have mine around -12dB.. I don't recall the factory default value.

Gain staging on your IEM systen is important.. you want to drive those A4's a little, but you don't want to it too loud or too quiet. You should be able to run the receiver at about half volume and still keep it loud enough to hear everything..

thx! Let me make sure I'm tracking. The output from my mixer to the xmitter is stereo, but my bass channel into my mixer is a mono channel. So when you ask if it's one input or 2, is that what you're asking about? I am definitely struggling with the gain, so all this is really helpful.

Also, this is from the manual: "During MONO operation you have to deactivate the pilot tone evaluation on the diversity receiver in order to ensure...same outputs on ch I and ch II". You seem to advise that I turn Pilot Tone ON while in MONO. What am I missing?

If you have "stereo" going to the xmitter from the mixer, you have both L and R inputs connected, right? It was unclear to me if you we sending bass into your IEM's from the mixer (along with everything else) or direct from the your bass into the xmitter.
So, assuming you have L/R feeds to the xmitter.. what is in each?
If not, please clarify... we can go from there.

Thanks! I do have both L and R inputs on the xmitter connected from the stereo mix out feed on the mixer. But I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know how to answer the question of what's in each feed. Is this just a product of the "stereo pan" choices I make on the mixer side? If so, when I panned my bass to the R on the mixer, it was fine, but when I panned L there was nothing coming thru my L A4. My bass is going thru the mixer along with everything else and then all that is going to the xmitter.

No need to be embarrassed.... we've all had to go thru the learning curve..
So.. if you have a stereo feed from the mixer, with bass included.. then you should be in stereo (both xmitter and rcvr) and should be able to pan and adjust levels.
How do you control what you hear in your IEM mix?
Is it a separate mix or do you tap the FOH mix?
Which mixer do you have ?

So.. if you have a stereo feed from the mixer, with bass included.. then you should be in stereo (both xmitter and rcvr) and should be able to pan and adjust levels.

We send all vox and instruments thru an [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] that feeds a mix to my Aviom a360 mixer which feeds the G3. FOH takes its feed off the Input Module.

OK. so you have full control over your stereo mix (levels and panning) of each of the channels being fed to the 360 - which includes your bass channel.
If you are getting bass out of your right IEM only..
- check that the bass channel pan is set to "center" on the Aviom
- check the CAT5 connection.. disconnect the CAT and power-cycle the 360 after re-connecting the CAT5.
- check that your bass connection to the AN16i-M is hooked up correctly... (my guess is that it is OK, since you have not mentioned that FOH is complaining).
- You may need to power cycle the AN16i-M.

I've experienced where Aviom's (and Behringer equivalents) get "stuck" giving results similar to what's in your OP.
The only solution I have seen is to re-boot (power cycle) everything - main and satellite units - to get it all back in sync.

Update after some tinkering this week. I realized my body pack was set to focus mode and not stereo. So I think I solved that problem. Weirdly (or at least I think weirdly) somewhere in my system, the stereo pan orientation is backwards. That is, when I pan a channel to the right edge of my the stereo pan setting on my mixer, I only get signal in my left ear. Is there a setting to make the stereo pan on an A360 stage-oriented? That seems odd.

I suppose it could be a setting somewhere in the mixer/transmitter/receiver or maybe my earbuds are backwards? Thoughts?

I think I made some progress with gain staging. Not sure it's perfect yet, but took a lot of this group's advice. Will keep working on it, but got my first gig with it tonight!

since you are going from the 360 to the G3, swap the G3 L and R inputs.. should fix the issue!

I received my A8's on Monday, but I didn't try them until last night at rehearsal. First of all, they are super comfortable. At one point I thought the right side had fallen off as I didn't feel it. I always felt the left side, but I could have left them in all night without problem.

I've never had a clearer mix from an IEM. I'm coming from some older Ultimate Ears, which I thought were pretty good, but they pale in comparison to the A8's. I did have to bump the bass on my instrument as I didn't feel I was hearing sufficient bass based on my previous settings.

I'm plugged in wired to a Presonus HP2 pack setup in stereo and I control my own mix through my iPad (MackieDL32). I also ordered the Rev33 for my A8's, but I haven't tried it yet as I wanted to hear the IEM's on their own first. So far I'm completely loving them and I feel it makes playing through IEMs a lot more exciting.

Are yours (the left one) charcoal shells and trans black faceplate? That's the style I got as well for one side. Looks way nicer than the designer would have you believe!

Order update: Shells detailed, printed, processed. Half way there!
