Your burst isn't too shabby either!
Knobs different too. is stock for '87? Anything else changed from original?

A friend came over a couple of weeks ago with his '78 Fender Jazz to show me, I brought out my '86 Foundation for him to try through my Rumble 200 combo.
I was pleasantly suppressed how well the Foundation sounded against, the bass it was in direct competition with & cost 4 times less than what my friend paid for the #78 Jazz.
And reaffirmed that I don't need to spend unnecessary money on a Fender Jazz, as the Peavey Foundation ticks all those boxes and weighed less as well :thumbsup:.

Hi!

I just recently purchased my first ever Peavey bass, a 1987 (I believe) Foundation. It was a bit of a risk as I couldn’t try before I buy, but now that I’ve got my hands on it, I absolutely love it. It’s clearly been treated well and doesn’t require any work. The action is nice and low and the pick-ups sound amazing.

I’d love to know a bit more about this particular bass though.

Firstly, I’ve heard how great the Foundation’s “thin fast” neck is, whereas this one feels quite chunky. Almost P-bass like. I happen to love that about it, but it’s not what I expected. Is this bass a different iteration or something?

Also does anyone know what “handcrafted in the USA” means, as opposed to “made in”? I’m guessing certain parts were made in other parts of the world and the bass was assembled in the US?

Anyway, here are some snaps:

Thinning the herd in a couple days... goodbye to the first peavey I owned. (White)

Just bought a lipstick red second gen foundation basket case that had been in a closet for 20 years. $20 and it was mine, and it came with a hard case. Noisy ... found the jack wired backwords. Got rid of the 60 cyle hum. Cleaned the pots, now it's good electricly. Now for the big test.... dealing with the massive positive relief on the neck.... that'll be my project over the next couple days. Slow and steady ...
