1980's Peavey TNT 300 owners

I owned and gigged a 300 combo for several years beginning in the mid to late eighties. The tone was ok and it was plenty loud. Heavy and bulky amp though. As soon as I scraped together enough dough, I replaced it with an Ampeg SVT and 410 and 810. Never looked back...in fact, I left that Peavy at my buddy's rehearsal space...

I had a Peavey Combo 300 for many years and it was a dependable, good sounding amp. with plenty of power. I liked the sound of the Black Widow speaker but, as many have said, the amp. was heavy. The amp finally developed problems and I gave it away.

I gigged a Combo 300 for years. I had just switched to bass from guitar and needed a rig. I bought it used, and it was the best thing I could get for the money, as I was young and broke at the time. It had a good sound. Good, not great. The Black Widow handled being cranked up very well. It was big and heavy, but not unreasonable considering the power it had. I'm sure it's still around. You cannot kill those. When the apocalypse comes, the only things left will be cockroaches and Peavey amps.

It's cool to see other Bassists felt my pain. It was the first good Bass Amp I bought. I had a 60 watt Crate Amp before it, so I felt like a real Bassist when I got it. Good thing I was young. I recall mine said "TNT 300" on the front. Have to find a photo.
I haven't thought of that terrible handle it had since you all mentioned it. It was a boat anchor wasn't it?

Still have mine. I bought it new in the early 80's. Bass Combo w/ BW. Heavy ... sits in a closet. Big Practice amp all it's life.

I installed casters on the bottom of mine. Best modification I ever made.
