Go figure I played through that exact same rig about three weeks ago and it was pretty tubby sounding and not very articulate. I never liked the GK212, myself - I felt like that cab took far too much away for being a 2x12 driver cabinet.

If you found a Fender Jazz Bass into a Mesa D-800+ and SW115 to be "...pretty tubby sounding and not very articulate..." it is definitely NOT the rig's fault, but rather how it was used.

Judging a cab’s performance by driver size is like judging a vehicle’s performance by number of cylinders. A four cylinder could be a tiny mid 80’s econobox that won’t make it to 60 by the time you get across town, or a super bike that has to be artificially limited to not exceed 186mph.

15" is good as a sub, but can't deliver the articulation that a 12" can. There's too much mass to respond to the transients that add so much character. But if you just want boom or thunder a 15" is likely to be just the right badness.
Totally Wrong! You have not tried the Reeves 115. To go even further, I had a TL style cab with a 18" EV that had plenty of articulation!
