Yeah, the truss rod adjustment at the headstock is suspicious, and then add that there's no walnut plug around it, and those tiny little tuners.

Funny though, OP has quite a few ridiculously expensive and collectible basses, and he ends up gushing over this counterfeit one.

You have a point. This story sounds like BS. It is crazy how a knock off can be so good that a guy who owns tons of instruments finds it to be one of the best. If they can make that kind of quality for that cheap...

My thoughts exactly, the American instruments have the truss rod adjustment at the pickguard side, and the bass looks too jagged even in the pictures. You don't need another bass anyways, but if you're really in love with this one buy it for a hundred bucks, definitely not five hundred though. The whole fact that it has an American serial is super sketch.

Well, seeing that you're such a "nice guy" and willing to help out 'A friend of a friend' in a tight spot; I have a Vintage 2015 Squier VM5 that I'd maybe like to get rid of, and also a couple of Vintage parts Basses varying years in one Bass :cool::woot:

My point was...
If I fork over 600 bucks, for something that I don't need, and the guy never comes back for it... can I recoup my money. The answer is obviously NO.
Did it play, and sound really good? YES.
SOMEONE, has figured out how to make a real nice counterfeit. Had it been presented as a parts bass, I may still consider it.
Being "presented", as a Fender... I want nothing to do with it. Even for 100 bucks.

Anyhow, thank y'all for your time, and effort.
Much appreciated.

Got an old, plywood, bass, with a warped neck, bad electronics, stuck/rusty tuners, and original strings? I have 600 bucks, burning a hole in my pocket. MATCHING case, mold included, a MUST!!!

Must work perfect for SLIDE BASS. 9/16" socket (must be Harbor Freight), included, or... NO DEAL.
