2011 NFL Preseason/ The Beginning

Oh, well that makes more sense....

Wait, I mean, no. The raiders will sweep the Bolts this season! You can sig it! :bassist::bassist:

Tom "The Fist" Cable + Al "The Corpse" Davis = momumental FAIL...on the Mark Wilson level! The 'Black Hole' has become about as intimidating
as a comic book convention! The 'Raider Nation' has been taken over by beer-bellied cartoon figures with runny mascara. "Pride and Poise" has been replace with "Shame and Confusion"................Man, I sure hope you don't beat us this year, eating crow is not my favorite thing to do! :crying:

It just feels SO GOOD for MNF to be back!! :hyper:

...as for this past weekend with my boys in black & gold...

I was very happy with the offense, both starters and all the guys shooting for a roster spot showed up, Chase Daniel served notice that he thinks he's the #2 QB and pretty much backed it up, Chris Ivory was thumpin' for most of the night as well. On defense, we looked a bit out of sorts a few times, but overall solid run defense and decent pass.

What I was most upset by was our punt and kickoff coverage - horrible! :spit: That has to be addressed!!!

Oh, and best stat of the night: over 70K showed up for a PRESEASON game! :hyper:

Now that's what you call FANS! :)

Easy to cheer for a winner there Gard, but I just don't see a repeat, early season(last) struggles against Warshington??!!?? and a favourable call to seal the deal at the end of said game, hmmmm.
That said in this league everyone rapidly assess' a winning formula and goes to great lengths not to be played twice, sometimes to the detriment of being unable to beat anyone else. So with no major changes down there it's likely we'll see nothing new, and we'll know how to beat it......
Unfortunately for me and fortunately for you, you won't see the Ravens until they kick your sorry butt come playoffs

:D

MAN! That is funny stuff. While I do like Richard Seymor, I deplore Al Davis. "Hey buddy, the graveyard's 2 blocks that way!"

Beer-bellied cartoon figures with runny mascara- now that's funny no matter who you are. Raiders are the Pirates of the NFL

hahaha- al "the corpse." hes definitely got the crypt keeper look down, ill give you that. he would also serve the team better from the grave. however, i think we did finally make some smart draft choices for once, and if receivers can step up, we might actually have a balanced team. great? probably not. but i think we are done being a complete joke.

as for your chargers (brothers a fan... probably going to that game when they play us at home), youve had enough free trips to the playoffs in what has to be the second worst division in football (i think the nfc west gets that title). you will make it again this year. id put money on that, but i wouldnt count on it next year.

i just hope denver doesnt get good once we get a real team together in a year or two. i will happily take a few free trips to the playoffs in a crap division. i cant remember the last time the afc west produced a wild card team, but it has to have been years.

Dude, you need to check yourself. Did you just call me a front-runner, fair-weather fan?

I sat in Saints home games IN THE RAIN.

I was at the very first preseason game and very first regular season game in the Superdome. I watched them break ground for that stadium IN PERSON, and watched it go from a former cemetery to a stadium.

If you don't know what that means, you don't have the first CLUE about the NFL, so step off.

As for beating up on your overaged, overpaid defense - IF the Crows can make it to the last game, I'm not at all worried about it. Your defensive backfield is ONE player, against Brees & Co, it'll be a...well...BREEZE for Drew. Keep in mind that this offense has been no less than 4th in the NFL (one season, 2007), otherwise, it has been the 1st ranked offense in 3 of the past 4 seasons. So far no one has figured out how to stop them, and I doubt they will this year either.

I'm sure our defense (with one of the best PAIRS of DB's in Porter and Greer, not to mention a future record holder and HOF'er at FS in Sharper) will be able to at least slow down your offense enough to make anything approaching a "shoot out" a losing effort for you guys.

Don't take one or two less than perfect games last season as any indication of the ability of this team, when the chips are down, when they HAD to win, they did. The defense may not get all the press and accolades, but keep in mind that in the course of 3 games, they beat 3 sure first ballot HOF QB's, and if you back up to the end of November, they blew out a 4th. Flacco has a LONG WAY to go before he's in that category.

So, bottom line: Ain't skeered.

Vince looked like a capable QB. I may be eating my words about Tennessee never winning with him. That is if he first pre-season game was a fluke and he can play at this new level for an entire season...

The Cards without Kurt and Anquan are a weak team. Did nothing at all last night. We hurdled right over them. Get it?

Watched the first half, and about half of the 3rd quarter, and I gotta agree - VY looks solid, you have a great backup in Collins, the defense is aggressive and looks very good.

AZ on the other hand needs to send up an SOS flare, they're in TROUBLE. They need to get their offensive line working or there'll be no running game, the defense couldn't stop the 1's from TN.

That hurdle was pretty good too! ;)

Hey, Gard, what do you think about the Pats this year? I know you guys beat us up good last season, and again congrats on a SB win, but I've watched both preseason games, and so far I like what I'm seeing. The Pats look hungry, determined, and pissed off, and Brady looks like he'll take no bull from anyone. Still need a pass rush, but a solid secondary and linebacking will go a long way defensively. So, Pats-Saints in Big D come February? It would be a helluva game! :D

Pats do look good, although it is "Practice". I think Brady is "pissed off" because so many people are asking him if he stole Justin Beber's hair cut :D

....I am sure my buddy Gard will chime in when he gets a moment :p

I see some steps in the right direction from the Patsies, looks like they're trying to get a running game going. I'm still not convinced that the defense is going to be there when they need it, but that's what everyone said about the Saints last season - then they went out and beat up on 4 sure-fire first ballot HOF QB's on the way to bringing home the silver football, so who knows?

I'm thinking that everyone anointing the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS in the preseason may be a bit premature in doing so...and I gotta feeling that those guys from Foxboro intend to have something to add to the conversation.

Should be an interesting season in the AFC East, there are three teams that have the potential to win that division from what I see so far.

I'd take beating down the Patsies again on the way to TWO DAT....

:D

I'm so friggin exited! Can't wait for the real season to start. Something tells me my wife is going to be looking like this a lot in the months to come

Gard, the only reason I'm letting that last line slide is because I remember just how bad the Aints were - not just for years but for decades! It must have seem endless for you Saints fans! 1-15, 2-14, 3-13, etc. So you guys have earned all the trash talk you can muster! At least until February!;)

You're right about the J-E-T-Z. Brady and Co. will definitely have something to say about that! They've got a great defense, but in the NFL nowadays you need solid, consistent QBing, and Sanchez still has a good ways to go.

Let me jog your memory, just to make sure you understand where you are in this fight:

Exactly my take on it, they have a lot of pieces in place, but not ALL of 'em. Not yet.

If Sexy Wrexy doesn't implode and take the team with him, there's a chance they'll be dangerous in the next few seasons...not yet though....

and this guy needs to learn how to take a hit from a 190-lb corner :)

Sorry, Gard, I just had to break your balls. To the rest of you, you had to have seen this coming

...it's all good...

Hey, who WON that game, by the way??? Hmmm???

:smug:

...and how many of them fancy silver football trophies do the Iggles have?

One hit on Reggae Boosh versus him with a ring, I'm thinkin' he'll take that. I know I sure will.
