2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

I've been jonesing for a tube amp for a while here, the V4B was on the top of the list until I saw that youtube video of the engineer who says the thing hums like crazy. After reading my way through this thread I was convinced that enough people really love this amp. Today I went to a local music shop turned it on and found out it hums like crazy. Luckily they had a bassman 100T in the room as well, I pretty much fell in love with it. Haven't pulled the trigger yet but really digging the two channel and features of the fender.


That video also scared me a bit, specially since I had an SVT Classic that gave me a lot of problems. But after trying the V4b in a store I was sold!!! Mine is dead quiet with plenty of power and the SOUND!!! Together with the Svt 212 av it is for me my favorite bass tone.
 
Actually, mine only has two taps, with a 4 and 8 ohm switch. It's a 90's model, and while it says V-4B on it, is probably more like the V4BH.

Yep, that's what I was saying. However, since this amp apparently has some tolerance for impedance mismatch, would 2 ohms be pushing it too much? Those who have run at 2 ohms, were you running off the version that does 2 ohms or not?
If the amp doesn't state it'll do two ohms, best if you stick with four or eight. Might not "hurt" the amp and it'll just shut down until the two ohm load is removed but why chance it?

The V4BH has taps on the transformer for 16, 8, and 4 ohms, the selector switch is for 8 or 4 ohms. Every amp has some tolerance for an impedance mismatch without damaging it, it isn't written in stone. Some output transformers operate at their current capacity, others are conservatively rated and can take more than the amp is designed to produce. It also depends on how hard you push the amp when you are playing.

I believe that it would be best to not run this amp with a 2 ohm cab combination. If you do, use common sense and keep a close eye on the power tubes and transformer for excessive heat.
