Yeah, I plan on running the master wide open and controlling volume with the gain. I'm not after distortion. Some warmth and grunt from the power tubes and I'll be happy.

Cheers,
Liam

Yeah I'm really hoping for some higher vol videos I really like the tone but need to know what kind of clean headroom you can get from this amp. I would also like to see/hear some comparisons between the V4B Reissue and the Fender 100T. I'm really on the fence between the two and want to make the right choice for my needs.

In spite of the fact that I have a Fender 100T and an Ampeg SVT-7 Pro, I've pre-ordered the new V-4B. I look forward to comparing them. I use the matching Fender neo 410 with the 100T and the 7 Pro runs through an SVT 410HE. If all goes as I expect, the V-4B will live atop the 410HE and the 7 Pro will go to backup status. We shall see.

Hey TC.65, I quoted Dan55's post from earlier in the thread. He has a 100t and has ordered a V4B, so a first-hand comparison will be on the way. :)

Cheers,
Liam

I liked the demo of the 100T, the one with the bald guy with the beard. He dug in when playing & showed clean & dirty tones, a much better sales promo than the V4B demos in my opinion.

This is what I'm talking about and I'm looking forward to it. From what I understand the 100T has more headroom than the old ones and does really well at higher volumes than one would expect. This is why I need to hear more from the V4B reissue. From what I've heard I really like the tone from both amps so the one that stays clean at higher volumes will make the difference for me.

I owned (and will own again soon) a Marshall VBA400. You couldn't believe how different it sounded if I used the preamp that way... muuuch better! Shame I found out the day before a guy had to pick it up... :hiding:

If the V4B won't stay clean enough for me, I'll also give the 100t a try. Sweetwater has a 30 day return policy, and they also sell the 100t. If neither stays clean enough, I'll check out the Mesa Prodigy, which is a 250 watt head (originally announced as 120 watts but redesigned around 4 x KT88 power tubes).

Cheers,
Liam

Looking at the video it looks like the gain is around 10 o clock @ master at noon . The tone seems to be really good . I know my p bass in to my svt vr at around 12 on the volume gets gnarly . Hauling that svt is whole other story . Wattage is like horsepower you miss it if you don't have it then again it comes at a cost . :bassist:

We'll shoot a down and dirty vid tomorrow of the V-4B cranked. I will post it up on YouTube and Facebook when done in the afternoon/
