Do you still have the Deltalite 2512 II's you bought from me? Did they make it into a cab?

Cheers,
Liam

Yup. I've been splitting cab duties between a Portabass (sealed) with them and that Faital cab. It's basically half a V4 cab. I'm going to try them in a sealed push-pull cab next to try and get a flatter response. No idea if it'll sound any good, but I've got the box built.

Edit: They don't quite melt faces, but they get plenty loud for our band :D

I keep threatening to throw a 15PR400 in one of my B-15 cabs to see what happens. I really like that extra high end it has, and from what I'm told, it would likely work out in a B-15 cab. Just don't want to spend the money. Also has me wondering how those new 112av's would sound with the 12" version of that speaker. Again, don't want to spend the money.

Well my wife ordered an elliptical machine today, so that turns out to be the tradeoff for the V4B. At least she forgot about the horse, right? ;)

Cool! Glad they went to a good home. :)

Jimmy, I haven't heard the Faitals in person, but the sound clips I've heard, both solo and in a mix have impressed me. I'm looking forward to my cab.

Glad she forgot about the horse!

Liam

Jimmy, I was wondering the same thing about the Faital 12PR300's in an SVT-112 AV. I also wonder what the weight savings would be. BTW I'm really looking forward to trying the V4-B.

Or (4) 16ohm 12PR300's in a V4 cab. Pricey, but would be a really good match, IMO. They are very flat, reach evenly up to 5k and do well in a sealed cab. If the V4B's character is in the upper mids, I think Eminence and their rising mid range response (3015, 2512, etc) can exaggerate that too much at times, IMO. Others might think that's just what you need, though.

Hey George, it would have to be a few pounds, no? The Delta 12a is 11.4 lbs. and the speaker in the 112av is probably comparable. The 12PR300 is 5.3 lbs. That's 6 lbs. Not too shabby. Not enough to get me to drop over $200 on top of the cab's price but it would likely be a badass cab if you did. Probably is a badass cab anyway, though ;)

astack, I hear that rising mid in a lot of neo loaded cabs. Partially because some are built so small, but it's also baked into the designs of the speakers in many cases. For me it's a fine line between enough high mids and too many.

Oh, and the new 12" cabs are ported, which would probably make using those Faitals a bit more attractive to some than a sealed cab.

+1 on the fine line nature.

The rising mid I see a lot in Emi's stuff, neo and non. I think all of Faital's stuff is flattened, again neo and non. I'm not smart/knowledgable enough to know what's going on inside to make it so, but it doesn't seem to be a function of the mag type.

The 16 ohm Faitals can go ported or sealed. The 8 and 4 ohmers, only ported, FYI if anyone is seriously considering this. I've only heard the 16 ohm.

But lets back up: This ported, betweeted cab with "SVT" in the name to go with the V4B RI is just ridiculous. Makes one want to take matters into their own hands ;) OK second time I've made this point. I'll be quiet now... :hiding:

What would you have thought in the 70's when the suggested cab for the V4B was a horn loaded 215? :D You can turn the tweeter off, and they make the tweeter fans happy. It'll be OK.

May I interrupt this interesting discussion of speakers with a question about the new V4B? :)

The block diagram in the manual shows the balanced line out being driven by what I interpret as a couple of op-amp stages, not a transformer.

Does anyone know for sure whether it can tolerate phantom power being applied?
