Wow Pens, rolled up at home by Carolina, the worst road team in the league? Come on man.

Calgary should have started rebuilding years ago when they could've got more for Iggy. The Avs are here on Thur. night which will be the 1st "new look Flames" game against his new team. He must have mixed feelings about how they're doing so far this year, but probably mostly good ones. It'll be an emotional night for the fans and Iginla alike, very much like when the Bruins played here with him last year. Won't be another 10 minute standing O, but the fans will let him know he's still loved here. Before the season began who would have predicted that both the Sharks & the Ducks would be shut out by the Flames?
That the Sabres would win both games of a home & home with the Habs?
Weird stuff indeed.

They lost #11 in a row tonight vs. The Jets (snicker).I don't like Calgary, but it's good to see them finally being good after all these years. Edmonton could sure use them as an example on how to use all those draft picks EFFECTIVELY.
The B's went 0 for California, I think they got one point last year on that trip. I stayed up to watch the first two and while they played well, they couldn't buy a goal. Then I watched last night and they get two goals in the first 3 minutes. I went to bed after the first with a 2-0 lead and hopes that the B's would end up with a W. I check the intertoobz in the morning and it was 7-4 San Jose. Apparently the team went to sleep when I did.
This year the trip includes Phoenix so that is the last hope of pulling any points out of the west.
On the bright side, I like Pastrnak, the 18-year-old Czech winger that they brought up and are playing. He is fast and likes to shoot and has good instincts - at the end of a shift last night when the B's were looking to change, he intercepted a SJ clearing attempt at the blue as he was retreating, he turned and flipped it right on goal so the B's got the change and an offensive zone faceoff as well.
Very strange. Ever since Chara got injured, as well as a few other players, the Bs have been struggling. What happened??? I was worried when they played my Kings thinking they would go hard on them, but no.....got shutout.
As for the Kings, I hope this 4-0 shutout in Arizona will improve their horrible road record.
The B's played hard as did the Kings, sometimes the puck goes in, sometimes it doesn't. I didn't realize how big the Kings are - the only B that matches up to them was Lucic! That said, the B's actually have done better than I hoped given the loss of Chara and others - in general they have been squeaking by teams they should be easily and grabbing a point here and there against the better teams in the league. It is not only Chara (#1 D) but Krecji (#1 Center), McQuaid (3rd D pairing but at least he is a veteran) that is out and some of the guys who are in have just returned like Miller (2nd D pairing). The key for the B's is to make the playoffs and hopefully have a full squad by then. The worry is that the other guys will get hurt just by trying to fill the hole left by Chara and the others and/or Chara will take too long to shake off the rust. It has been a very odd season, they are not out of it, but are clearly chasing it. It is good to see the young players doing so well which bodes well for the future, but they need the veterans to have a realistic chance of advancing in the playoffs this year.
