2014-2015 NHL Regular Season Thread

The Bruins lost last night. For some reason, Claude thought it would be a good idea to shake up his lines. No sure if that was the difference as they haven't been able to score on Holtby this season but it certainly didn't help.

They are still in control of their destiny, but they need to win tonight against Florida.

The B's need to make the playoffs or the coach and the GM will probably be fired and the team shaken up. I'd rather the B's earn their berth by winning, but if the Rangers and Flyers want to beat Ottawa, I'm OK with backing in.

Shows what I lnow. Sitting some key players, and a rough first period, the Wild pull it together and get their 12 straight road win. A win Saturday in St Louis and a Chicago loss at Calgary would give the Wild the NHL road win record and 3rd in the division.

Nobody cares about your stupid Wild. What does that mean anyway? What the blazes is a "wild"? Shouldn't it be plural? How do you say it plural? "Minnesota Wildren"?

Stanley Cup, coming to Winnipeg. You heard it here first.

Your moms.

Well, I guess thats a step closer to a reasonable response compared to your usual middle school "F^&k the Wild" or Nashville or whomever else you're ranting against.

Happy times in Cowtown. Happy bar owners - The "Red Mile" is on again.

Give a playoff spot to Ottawa. They deserve it more than Boston or Pittsburgh. Yeah, I realize the Rangers have nothing to play for right now, but Ottawa sure does. Nice win tonight for the Sens.

Two of those three teams are going to make it and I agree that Ottawa has done the most so far to get in. Florida didn't have anything to play for last night except revenge for the Bruin's knocking them out of the playoff chase and the Panthers won despite a home crowd that had more Boston fans than Florida. The Bruins had one decent period but they still can't find the back of the net or the ability to consistently get the puck deep which is why they went from being in control of their destiny to now needing help. Boston needs to win against Tampa and needs Ottawa to lose in regulation or Pittsburgh to get 1 point or less in the next two games. I highly doubt either of those things will occur, so last years Presidents Trophy winner will end up joining last years Stanley Cup champion on the golf course.

Ugh, I can't believe the Kings blew it. So many times. I hate this feeling and haven't had it for years. I'm trying hard to be happy for Calgary since they obviously earned their spot where the Kings didn't but it's hard. It would be easier to be happy for them if a Flames fan hadn't done his best to ruin my first ever game I attended at Staples this season. My family surprised me with a ticket for a game happening while we'd be vactioning in the area. I was by myself and of course in an arena of 18,000 plus people I end up next to a Flames fan. He had no interest in chatting with me but did continually antagonize those sitting around him with a poster of Johnny Gaudreau and by shouting, "Heeeeeeere's Johnny!" whenever the guy carried the puck. Of course the Kings went on to lose the game on an uneventful OT goal. Still a great time but not as fun as my first game could have been.

I'm bitter about it now but I'll come around. As long as Anaheim doesn't win I guess I'll be happy.

You have to block out the entire word. Put stars for the "f & the "k" in your post or you'll get your pee-pee slapped. Just a heads up.

Like this: **** the Wildren.

But that could mean any four letter profanic word!

Yeah, I'm bitter too, but considering how bad the Kings have been playing this whole season, they deserved jack squat. Obviously, injuries happened at the wrong time and with the Voynov thing being an issue against the cap, they had to make do with what they were given.

No team deserves a spot in the playoffs. You earn it. No one deserves jack squat. You play and fight for that privilege.

But look at the Kings since 2012. In the past three years, they've won two Cups. Quick getting a 16-4 record in 2012. Three straight WCF appearances. Coming back from a 3-0 series deficit against SJ and winning. Winning three Game 7s in all three rounds in the Western Conference all on the road too! Capturing the Stanley Cup again at home, something no team has done until the Kings did it in 2012.

Hopefully the Voynov case ends well for him and LA over the summer.

And yeah, fans are gonna be d-bags, but just ignore them.

For me, time to root on the Canucks. They made a crazy bounceback season from the disastrous Tortorella leadership. Linden and Benning really want the Cup for Vancouver, for sure. They're making the right moves so far, but this new group of guys are untested in the playoffs, especially Eddie Lack. While the core veterans have some experience, as well as Bonino, Dorsett, Sbisa, Richardson, kind of-Vrbata, the young guys don't.

Go Canucks Go! I can never and never will abandon my hometown team.

Only one more night of suffering.....Golf Leafs Golf!

Is there any talk in Toronto about possible new coaches and/or GM's? I heard idle speculation on one of sports talk radio stations that the Leafs might want Julien and if the Bruins don't make the playoffs (which is how it looks right now), the Bruins would probably be fine with letting him walk. I think Julien is good coach and he brought a Cup to Boston after a long absence, but the players he has are either unable (which would be more the GM's problem) or unwilling (that would be on Julien) to play winning hockey despite some legit talent. Chirelli and Julien brought a Cup and a lot of winning seasons to Boston, but it appears that this will be the last year for both of them. In my mind it is more of a "all good things must come to an end" situation then a "don't let the door hit you on your way out." The B's have improved their footprint in the Boston sports landscape and I hope whoever is in charge of the team next year can build on that.

Current coach here is an "interim" coach after Carlyle was canned in January. Can't see him back next year. Talk here is they want Babcock, but he is way too smart for that. Haven't heard much regarding Julien. Think Shanny wants complete rebuild here.
