Okay, a little time has passed since I posted the above comment and sure enough the gas is back. A Musicvox MI-6 5-string bass is now on the top of my list. Haven't decided on which finish yet.

Well..I've been wanting a bass I can heavily mod myself beyond just adding a drop in preamp or bridge...so.. I purchased a WishBass Lobe..a 4 string..should be here tomorrow. It's has a 5 piece walnut neck with maple and purple heart stringers, a bloodwood fretboard, solid purpleheart wings, Grover tunes, MM PuP. I played one at the Orlando Guitar Expo this past weekend and was more than pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the neck felt! Now I am pretty much a Jazz Bass guy (I have 5 in my collection) and I usually hate chunky necks (can't stand Warwicks) so I was really skeptical about the feel of a Wish Bass. However, curiosity took over and I sat down and played a Fantasy and a Lobe. The Fantasy had a buzz on the G string at about the 6-7 position..but the Lobe, however, played beautifully up and down the neck. No dead spots, no buzzing, no note decay. This thing had TONS of sustain, Mwah for days, sounded rich, full, beefy and dripping with organic tone.
Made me rethink the Wish Bass.
Sure..the lack of a truss is a bit off putting but the guy selling these two Wish Basses (the Lobe sold later that day) has been carting them around in the Florida weather which hasn't been all that humid. We've been getting a few cold snaps as of late and I figured if these monsters managed to stay pretty intoned..well. The lack of an adjustable bridge doesn't scare me..look at Carl Thompson's basses.
So I went online and bought the Lobe with the intention of doing some mods to it..extensive mods.
Why?
I've been wanting to do a REAl mod..re-sculpting, refinishing, fabricating a new bridge and nut, fabricating a wood knob, wood control cover, adding a push/pull function and or a toggle switch.
Point being that my 2017 GAS list started out as simply wanting a 4+1 tuner config neck to replace a 5 inline config neck on one of my Jazz Basses.
Now I'm looking at doing a tad more than that!!!

Since I saw the Hammersmith K, my GAS for a Bass IV have been replaced. I just hope to find the money soon enough to access the special TB models!
I was sort of GASsing for a better set of bongos than the ones I have, but satisfied my curiosity yesterday
These are at the Fender dealer & I compared them to mine (which were in my vehicle outside) & couldn't really tell a difference (yes I'm almost tone deaf)
I would like to have the set that Harry Connick Jr. uses:
They are mucho expensivo though...

Thank you, I was mistaken about the jack, I had looked at the pics on several sites and never saw it. That is cool because I would like the option of using it as a pedal. That is the downside of shopping in cyberspace, never see these in a real store.

My gas should be satisfied for a couple years.
On Monday, I expect delivery of a 1953 Fender P-bass. I had to sell several basses in order to make this happen. I've been waiting many years to find a way to get one of theses babies!
