2017- What's on your GAS List?

Having picked up a Barefaced Big Baby II a few weeks ago, I'm GASsing for a second one. I've also been looking for an acoustic (or acoustic-ish) group as a secondary project and, if/when that happens, my GAS for Barefaced ONE10 will jump to a much higher level than it is right now.

But having no luck finding an acoustic project that seemed promising, it's looking to me like I might have to start my own. If so, then I'd probably need a PA first before I replace my speaker cabinets.
Wow, I forgot all about this thread until I saw an alert this morning about a new post.

A couple of guys in the Barefaced megathread knew that I was interested in a One10 and back in January they got me in touch with someone who was selling one, so that took care of one of the GAS items. And a second Big Baby 2 is about 2/3 of the across the country to me right now, hopefully arriving on Tuesday. Having made those two purchases, they should cure my amplification GAS for a really long time. Besides those two cabinets, I think the only other thing I bought this year was a Hooker's Green Bass Machine overdrive pedal.

But for the first time ever I've actually done a really good job SELLING gear in 2017. That paid for what I bought and then some, and I still have quite a bit more to sell.

I actually have nothing that I'm gassing for. However, the new Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro in Ebony could change that if it meets my quality expectations once it's released in November.

Ideally?
GK MB212
Lakland USA Hollowbody in Sonic Blue
Pedulla Rapture
To finish my parts bass
GK Plex

Realistically?
Maybe buy some more parts for my parts bass
GK Plex
MAYBE a Lakland Skyline Hollowbody

Well, I did get the MB212, as well as an MB112

I didn't get the Lakland or the Pedulla, and won't. But I did buy an Ibanez SRFF805 which I then sold and bought a Squier VM P5 which is a fantastic backup bass.

Gave up on the parts bass.

Still might get the Plex

Amazingly enough currently nothing...however if I came across a cheap Fender Precision or Jazz bass to serve as a backup I might be moved to buy it. I'm happy with what I got now though but always keep an eye open.

I'm always trying to find my ideal gear setup and it always seems like I'm getting really close to what I need. Unfortunately, new purchases lead to more gas. What are you looking to buy in 2017?

I have a great LB-100, Alder~Rosewood. I'd really like an Ash~Maple one to go with it.

There are other threads like this I know but this is more about not what you want but more about complimenting your other gear.

Please share
I've gotten a lot of overtime because work is really short staffed and knocked out most of the list this year. Really digging the Warwick thumb NT6 I got a couple Months ago, and swapping the sans amp RBI for the Avalon u5 gave me the great clean tone and clarity I wanted out of my rig. Finally happy pedal wise thanks to Darkglass Making dirt pedals that work well with active basses. Yesterday I got in a new SKB case for the thumb bass as the heavier plywood one I'd been using had only one working latch left.

I have a cioks dc5 power supply on the way in the mail for my pedaltrain mini so hopefully I'll have my pedalboard organized with the cioks before Friday's and Saturdays gigs. Here's my bass, board, and rig right now

Main thing I'm shopping for at this point is another bass.and mainly warwicks in particular. Problem is I really don't know what I want to get. I've been bouncing all over the place between getting an affordable 6 string as a backup for my thumb 6 string. Considering the Warwick rockbass corvette 6

but I've also considered getting a bass with that's sonically different like maybe the Warwick Adam Clayton which is kind of a modernized P bass and setting it up bead and maybe even with flats or tapewounds and mainly using it for ballads.

I've also been GASing pretty hard for a Warwick Alien 6 string thanks to all the power outages from the hurricanes here on the east coast the last couple of years. And we occasionally do acoustic gigs where I have been playing electric where I could use it.

So since I have a GK 700rb ii and 1001rb ii I feel I may be putting my BX1500 and Gator rack bag up for sale and jumping into one of GK's newer offerings.

I love GK.

Baer ML-112 or ML-115 coming this year though.

Never got into a new GK offering and moved the BX1500. Also sold one of the VL110 cabs and can't quite bring myself to let the last one yet.

The Quilter BB800 is on my list.

I'd like to pick up a micro cab if I do decide to move the last VL110 and use the BB800 with a micro cab and a pedal board.

Baer cabs still hang heavy over me. The GAS has not left.

Only Bass GAS I have is for a Dingwall Super P. Been wanting a Dingwall for some time, but with a Modulus I can't really justify a Dingy.

2017 was a slow year for gear. Lots of life, good and bad.

In a burst of randomness, this year I got a Lakland fretless fiver, a 55-60. I built a new Strat. I am building another project guitar. And I might get a Les Paul.

I got it. It's a gold top 2017 Tribute Les Paul. And because I can clearly leave no guitar unmodified, I'm putting in new pickups, a Jimmy Page Mod switching circuit, strap locks, and a couple of small cosmetic changes. (The Tribute doesn't come with a pickup selector switch surround. So I'm getting one made. In stead of 'Rhythm/Treble', it will say 'Mary Ann/Ginger. I'm also replacing the trussrod cover with one that has my name on it. And I'm swapping two of the control knobs for ones that feel different, so I can tell which pickup I'm adjusting without looking.)
