2017- What's on your GAS List?

Fender TF Fretless (black) and the Fender 300 Bassman tube head with 810 cab.....that's all.......oh wait or is it how my wife says it...Is that ALL?

Fender Super Bassman 300.... just got one which is one reason I have neither the desire nor the funds to yield to GAS in 2017. Really great amp. Wife gave me the face but otherwise was kind about this purchase. YMMV but the Barefaced Four10 is a super complimentary cab for this amp... you don't necessarily need a giant 810 too.

I am pretty well set on amps/cabs/misc but there's always a bass that catches the eye. For now I feel no GAS pressure, 2016 was a good year. Sure, I'd love a Sadowsky or a Fodera, but I generally don't go over $1,000 when buying basses.

But my recent interest list includes:

a used agave blue Fender Jazz (they quit making agave blue in about 2010?). Yes, it's mainly about the color.

A PJ of some kind such as the sea foam Precision Special with Jazz neck

Ibanez BTB33 .. a 5-string E-C-tuned 33" scale

Generally my rule is a new bass needs to bring something new to the table in terms of its performance and not be duplicative, so the agave blue jazz is an exception to my rule.

I have such GAS for that BTB. I almost nabbed one used but opted for my Bongo... this BTB may have to make it onto the 2017 GAS list that I may have to aquire.

My aquisitions are slower these days, have kids who's instruments take precedence. The oldest took up bass, so at least I can play with her new gears. Youngest plays trombone and has taken a liking to percussion so we are starting with hand drums and practice pads, figure by the time he really wants a drum kit we'll both be ready (a kit is on my GAS list).

I'm set, BUT I do have a custom Bacchus J5 on order - due to be completed in March. I came close to ordering a custom Sadowsky NYC Will Lee 5, and considered the Metro WL5, but just couldn't do it - way out of my budget. The Bacchus J5 with a few options is about the same as the street price of a Fender USA 5. I'm taking a chance on it based on reviews and if it's not for me I can always flip it (most likely at a loss, but been there / done that before).

Barefaced 1 x ten, been trying to find used for awhile but no luck.

I'm always trying to find my ideal gear setup and it always seems like I'm getting really close to what I need. Unfortunately, new purchases lead to more gas. What are you looking to buy in 2017?

I have a great LB-100, Alder~Rosewood. I'd really like an Ash~Maple one to go with it.

There are other threads like this I know but this is more about not what you want but more about complimenting your other gear.

Having picked up a Barefaced Big Baby II a few weeks ago, I'm GASsing for a second one. I've also been looking for an acoustic (or acoustic-ish) group as a secondary project and, if/when that happens, my GAS for Barefaced ONE10 will jump to a much higher level than it is right now.

But having no luck finding an acoustic project that seemed promising, it's looking to me like I might have to start my own. If so, then I'd probably need a PA first before I replace my speaker cabinets.

Hmm--mainly a reverb pedal (to use with my guitar), a pedal board (Or if I can find a decent price for a new volume pedal, chorus, octaver & Auto Wah I would have separate pedalboards for bass & guitar), an electronic keyboard (Nothing too pricey or large), maybe a small tube amp for guitar.
maybe none of that--if I find a good deal on a lap steel or a biscuit reso I might go for those.
Or maybe a Seagull Merlin--or maybe nothing this year.

No serious GAS right now, but...

I had a line on a clean Ampeg B-15n, I was very tempted. I decided that it would have been a slight financial reach, so I held off. All of my gear has been bought cash with gear money or cash resulting from selling some piece of underused gear. I'll keep putting money away and someday the right one will pop up while I'm sitting on the cash.

In the meantime my SVT Classic, SVT 3 Pro, various SVT cabinets and Fender Bassman TV-12 are more than adequate for this drummer. :)

I'm satisfied with what I have now. But I may get a nice strap. I'm not a big fan of the Fender strap I obtained a while back.

I'd love a Ric or Thunderbird and a wireless system of some type. I'll probably settle on the wireless unless I can unload a bass I don't play nearly enough.
Well, I got the wireless. I went with the Audio-Technica System 10 stomp box system. Just a few rehearsals in and I'm happy with my choice. Still contemplating selling my underplayed Aria and getting a Ric or T-Bird. Damn GAS.
