2017- What's on your GAS List?

Think I'm going to try one of these:

The Junior Barnyard pre-amp. Made to cop the tone of archtop guitar players from the '40's like Junior Barnard. The guy who builds these is into throwback guitars and equipment. I have one of his 'Brain' pre-amps, it's an always-on effect that punches up the volume without sacrificing clarity. There are a couple of YouTube videos from guitar players and I really dig the tone they get from it.

I'm curious as to whether you've looked in to the Curtis Novak Charlie Christian pickups

I'm definitely happy with what I have gear wise, but there's always room for more...

- Bruce Johnson AMB-2

- Serek Midwestern (if it's possible to get one in medium scale)

- Gibson Ripper

- Höfner Club Bass

- A Mesa Subway cab, either a 1x15 or a 2x10, to go with the 1x15 I already have.

- Z-Vex Basstortion

- A Hipshot bridge for my Ric.

Realistically, I might end up with a new cab, and an overdrive pedal. And if I'm to get a new bass, a Ripper or Club is more likely than any of the others on the list.

Pretty light for 17. I've been meaning to try an mv atlas pickup in my P bass , so that will happen. Other than that, the c109 organ pedal looks interesting, but I'm not using any pedals in my rig so it's not something I'd do much with but tinker at home probably.

I am pretty well set on amps/cabs/misc but there's always a bass that catches the eye. For now I feel no GAS pressure, 2016 was a good year. Sure, I'd love a Sadowsky or a Fodera, but I generally don't go over $1,000 when buying basses.

But my recent interest list includes:

a used agave blue Fender Jazz (they quit making agave blue in about 2010?). Yes, it's mainly about the color.

A PJ of some kind such as the sea foam Precision Special with Jazz neck

Ibanez BTB33 .. a 5-string E-C-tuned 33" scale

Generally my rule is a new bass needs to bring something new to the table in terms of its performance and not be duplicative, so the agave blue jazz is an exception to my rule.
