Ibanez monorails were directly inspired from the now 30 year old Kahler bridge, which does allow spacing adjustments through the bottom plate. Not sure if what they plan is similar.
It's always baffled me that Ibanez caters so hard to the hard rock and metal guitar players and, except for the short run of the SRX line, don't do the same for bassists. It'd be cool if they'd re-run the SRX with maybe some better pickups or do an Iron Label bass line with some EMGs or something.
I would like to see more lefty basses. We are the most ignored of all players at Ibanez. I think out of the entire incredible line they make maybe five lefty basses. And all in black! Why is it that manufacturers think all lefty bassists want black basses? Odd.
Also what would be cool if Ibanez created their own narrow neck streamlined version of the P bass. And in both lefty and righty!

I predict brown. A lot of brown.
I would speculate a complete lack of cool burst finishes, one model in trans blue. The same model offered in trans red.
An amber finish.
Some cool new 'wood sandwiches' across the board.

The hippie sandwich is the reason I don’t own one...great basses, sound awesome and feel really good, but man, do _just one_ premium bass without all those weird laminates...every time a new premium model came out i was excited, especially the ash topped one, but they all have those thin laminates and, except for the 14xx, that dog ugly block running through the middle of the body...and a black hardware option, too, please
I'd just about clear my bowels on sight if I saw a reissue of the blazer/roadstar models. The sound they have is like a 70s precision but slightly darker, the neck is a thing of beauty, and the headstock shape has to be a classic by now.
Yeah the gold only option on the better models is one of the primary reasons I didn't buy one. I don't wear jewellery and the colour gold is not to my personal taste, so they lost my money straight away on that one. Ibanez, come on!
Kinda funny! I like the laminates especially Walnut, Maple Walnut, especially if the maple is separated by strips of more Walnut! I am not crazy about the solid tops, except for maple with a trans paint job!
Id this what you guys are referring to as the Hippie Sandwich? or is it the stacking of laminates to get the thickness of the body like on the SR 1200's? That I can see! I could have had one for real good price in excellent shape, but never cared for the laminations either

turns out the BTB Volo 33" scale is going to have 2 new models: 5 string E to C BTB845V-ABL and 6 string B to C BTB846V-ABL. These will have poplar burl top and ash/mahogany wing. The finish is Antique Brown stained Low gloss (ABL).
These seem to have zero fret (but I could be wrong). No info on the pickups or whether these will have mono rail 5s bridges too.

Thanks for the new info. The current BTB845 models have a 35-inch scale length, but I'm guessing the "V" in these stands for "Volo" and indicates a 33-inch scale. I'm curious to see these. Do they have the finger ramp?

Yes, the V which stands fo Volo, indicates that they aren't the usul 35" 845/846. The 5 string is certainly 33", but I don't have info about the 6 string. Quite possibly both are 33".
I don't have exact info regarding the finger ramp either. It seems not, cause the poplar burl is shown in between the two pickups. But again, I could be wrong about this. Cause it's also possible that they made the ramp using the same wood as the top surface.
The BTBs are all neck-though, and the tops are only on the wings, so you should see the neck material (usually with stripes) between the pickups. Right? Here's the "regular" BTB845:

The BTB845 is the same price as the BTB33, so it makes sense that the revised BTB33 would come in a BTB845 model. I would have preferred the Deep Twilight color shown on the BTB845, sadly.

This is a long shot but an 8 string bass. Either like the Studio Series or the one based off of Thundercat's double neck.
Since the standard BTB845 has a zero fret and the BH2 pickups, I'd wager the Volo version will have the same. (Does anyone know the dimensions of the BH2 pickups? Are they the same size as the BH1s?)
If the 6-string comes in at 33 inches, that will prove interesting.
